Robert A. Awad, 76

WORCESTER - Robert A. Awad, 76, a resident of Worcester, passed away Wednesday, January 29th with his devoted family gathered by his side after a period of declining health.

Robert was born in Worcester, one of four children of Alfred and Alice (Visceto) Awad. He grew up in Worcester; graduated from Worcester Public schools and earned a degree in construction management from Worcester Junior College. Robert then went on to earn the Massachusetts State Construction Supervisors License. Robert joined the Massachusetts Army National Guard to serve his community and country during the early sixties and has lived in Worcester all his life.

Robert is survived by his wife, Deborah Ann (Wemette) Genest Awad; the love of his life he enjoyed the past 23 years with: four children, Pamela Donnelly, and her husband Joseph Jr of San Marcos, California, David Awad and his wife Kayo of Superior Colo, Mark Awad and his wife Tara of Providence, and Daniel M. Genest of Boston; two brothers, Alfred Awad, Jr of Worcester and George Awad in Florida; a sister, Carol Finnegan of Worcester; four grandchildren, Grant, Julia, Kenzo and Taizo; Neices, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.

Robert was very handy with his hands. It was important to him to be kept busy fixing things which lead him to construction management. He loved rehabilitating residential properties and made that his life's work. He would always be available to lend a hand when asked.

Robert a simple, quiet gentleman who cherished his family especially his grandchildren. He loved to Ski, the outdoors hunting, fishing, archery and gardening. He valued the moments spent with his grandchildren teaching them his enjoyments. Robert was a member of the NRA, and the National Ski Patrol spending many years patrolling the slopes of Wachusett Mountain.

The Awad family will receive friends and relatives during calling hours Sunday, February 2nd from 3 pm to 5 pm in the MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation St. followed by a prayer service at 5 pm. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Alzheimer's Association Massachusetts/New Hampshire, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472
