Honey Meyer Obituary

Honey Meyer, 76

Southbridge - Honey Meyer, 76, of Worcester St., died at home on August 17th. She leaves her son, Jody Tim Ashkenazi of South Yarmouth, MA; a daughter, Carrie Ellen Morse of Brookline, NH; and two brothers, James A. Meyer of Portland, OR and Les Meyer of West Hartford, CT. Honey was predeceased by her son Jonathan Ashkenazi in 2009.

She was born in Boston, the daughter of Laurence M. and Ruth L. (Goldstein) Meyer.

Honey attended Boston University and earned a Bachelor of Arts degree at Fairleigh Dickinson University in New Jersey. She went on to earn a Master's degree in gerontology at New Hampshire College (now Southern New Hampshire University).

Honey worked for Tri-Valley Elder Services in Dudley for 20 years before retiring. She previously was a bookkeeper and clerk for Warren County in New York and had worked at the Silo Country Store in Glens Falls, NY and in landscaping. At one time she operated It's a Honey, a service specializing in crafts and children's clothing. Honey was a lifelong volunteer who was active in Carewear Volunteers and the libraries of every community in which she lived. Arrangements are private and are in the care of Daniel T. Morrill Funeral Home of Southbridge. The family plans to have a memorial service at a later date.

Donations may be made to the Meals on Wheels program at Tri-Valley, Inc., 10 Mill Street, Dudley, MA 01571 or Quinebaug Valley Council for the Arts and Humanities, 111 Main Street, Southbridge, MA 01550.
