Joan Tomasino Obituary
Leicester - Joan M. (Goldfarb) Tomasino, 67, of Leicester, passed away on Saturday, February 20, 2016 in the loving company of her family. She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Lawrence A. Tomasino. She is also survived by her children, son, Lawrence Trevor Tomasino and his wife Alice of Oxford; daughters, Alisha Compagnone and her husband Carlo of Millis, and Rondi Hickey and her husband Sean of Tolland, CT; six grandchildren, Cole, Blake, Alex, Jacob, Nicholas and Gianna Sophia; a sister Diane Fertman and her husband Norman of Burke, VA, and many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by a sister, Frances Sheehan. She was born in Worcester a daughter of Milton and Shirley (Guzik) Goldfarb.
Mrs. Tomasino retired from Worcester State University as Staff Assistant to the Academic Vice President where she worked for 17 years. She graduated from the former Commerce High School and attended the Burdett College of Business in Boston. She was a member of St. Columba Parish in Paxton, where she volunteered some time making dresses for children in Haiti. Family (including her dog Bella) were most important to her. Joan always had a smile on her face. She loved life and lived it to the fullest. Her hobbies and passions included reading, Words With Friends, shopping and old cars and some travel. She loved spending time on Sebago Lake, Maine with family and good friends where she enjoyed many hours kayaking and boating. In the last few years Joan became known for creating beautiful works of 3-D art which she loved giving to others. Joan's pride in and love for her family, her grace, and contentment with life, are her treasured legacy which will live on through the memories of family and friends. The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks to Dr. David Shepro and staff at St. Vincent Cancer and Wellness Center, Eaton Place, Worcester for their wonderful care and kindness.
The funeral will be held on Thursday, February 25, 2016 at 9:00 A.M. from HENRY-DIRSA FUNERAL HOME, 33 Ward St. Worcester, with a Mass at 10:00 AM in St. Columba Parish, 10 Richards Ave, Paxton, MA. Burial will be in Notre Dame Cemetery. Calling hours in the funeral home are Wednesday February 24, 2016 from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. but they are private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 OR Boston Children's Hospital Trust, 401 Park Drive, Suite 602 Boston, MA 02215.

So hard to believe that 5 years have gone by since Joni left us. I think of her all the time...all I have to do is look at my 3D art; especially if a swear word passes my lips....there she is scolding me. Her courage, her smile and outlook was beyond reproach. An angel on earth and in heaven. I will miss you all the days of my life but so blessed you were a part of my life. Rest in Peace my dear friend.

I'm so sorry to just learn that Joan has passed. She carried herself with such poise and class. A very strong woman who was very proud of her family. I enjoyed waiting on both Joan and her husband Larry for several years while working at Rose's Italian Restaurant in Windham ME. I had the joy and pleasure of meeting all of their children and grand children over the years. RIP dear Joan, you will be dearly missed by all.

Joni and I have been friends since 3rd grade. She was like a sister to me. We shared many happy events over the years and treasured our times together. From our Boston trips to see plays and of course our shopping trips, we shared a special friendship. These last 5 years have meant the world to me.
