To the Maloney family. This candle is in memory of Ed. He will greatly be missed. This candle is shining bright because Ed is looking down and smiling upon us. Rest now Ed. I ask our father to look after your family and give them strength. Bless them in Jesus name. Amen

Dear Carol and family, my heart is so heavy after hearing about Ed. He was a fine man and he will be missed. I am so sorry I was not at the service, I was unaware of his passing until today. You will all be in thought and prayers. If there is anything I can do please just ask. God Bless you all! Kathy Patterson Gazard.

To Ed's family...I was dismayed to hear about Ed's passing, and I can't get it out of my head. Why do such things happen? I worked with Ed at the Office of Education, and then in another Dept of Labor agency. Bumping into Ed was always a bright spot in my day, and he never failed to lift my spirits while commiserating about our jobs. Although I have not kept in touch for several years, I will feel his absence and always remember him. He was one of those people who made the world a better place. I am so sorry.

Dear Carol, Kate, Maggie and Michael
I just learned of Ed's passing about an hour ago. Words cannot convey my shock and sorrow. We loved Ed and his wonderful sense of humor. So many memories these past 40 years beginning with our wedding and most recently our daughters. My heart is heavy Carol. God bless

Dear Maloney family,
I was saddend to hear of Ed's passing. Although he was not my supervisor when I was in Boston, he was kind, knowledgeable, helpful to his fellow employees and generally one of the nicest people that I have had the privlege of knowing. My prayers go out to you all in this sad time. Ed and all of you shall be in my prayers. I'm sure Ed is watching over us all now.

My deepest sympathy to the Maloney Family. I met Ed in 1987 while working at the Dept. of Labor. I continued to speak with him after I left the agency because we worked in the same building. I will always remember his friendly personality and his great sense of humor, he always made me laugh with different stories he used to bring up while working together.

So sorry for your loss.

I had the pleasure of knowing Ed since 1985. He was truly a special guy. Devoted to his wife and family. Dedicated to his work. Our connections to Lynn and Swampscott, he was the brother, I never had. I am going to miss our conversations. Whether it was politics or sports, he always had an interesting insight. I will cherish all the memories. Rest in peace.

As much as we would cry with laughter when we got together with Ed, we cry now with sadness. He wouldn't approve, but we can't help it.
Ed was our cohort in high school misadventures, although more as the person who would solve our problems rather than create them. He managed to retain his non-judgmental wit amid our foolishness and under the watchful eye of his mother Ruth. In high school he was the super smart new kid who quickly and quietly managed to date the coolest girls around. He was interested in what you had to say and often had a hilarious viewpoint of the absurdities of politics and the workplace.
We had some fun visits when our kids were younger to the Southborough home that he and Carol made as wonderful for the kids as possible. There always seemed to be something new in the back yard or in the house designed with the kids in mind. He was tremendously proud of and devoted to Kate, Maggie and Michael, now Teresa, and of course, Carol.
We had a tradition of meeting once a year in the North End for dinner. On one of those occasions, the waiter tipped a glass of red wine over Ed's shoulder onto the front of his shirt right at the beginning of the meal. It couldn't have been a comfortable meal for him after that, but he never let on. He never put himself front and center.
We'll miss our annual North End dinners and the chance to hear his laughter. We'll miss hearing about Kate, Maggie, Michael and the newest family member, Teresa. Our hearts are broken. We will miss our good, kind, funny, smart, empathetic friend and send our love to you all.
