Dorothy Richmond Obituary

Dorothy M. Richmond

Worcester - Dorothy M. (Harris) Richmond, 98, of Worcester, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2016, at the Rose Monahan Hospice Residence. She was predeceased by the love of her life, Willie Richmond, he died in 1976.

Dorothy was a strong woman, strong in opinion and personality, strong in faith, and strong in the love of her family. Having outlived her husband and her only son, Walter A. Woodson, Jr., the strength she drew from her faith and from the love of her family, aided her in continuing to live independently until the time of her death. Dorothy continued to keep herself active by working for over thirty years in the offices of Greenberg, Rosenblatt, and Kull Accountants in Worcester, retiring several years ago.

Dorothy loved her garden, and was especially fond of her beloved Peonies. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed traveling and reading,

She is survived by her grandson, Walter A. "Butch" Woodson, III and his wife Rosetta of Worcester; a granddaughter, Marsha Jackson of Worcester; a sister, Amelia McNeil Jones and her husband James of New York City; a nephew, Sean Jefferson and his wife Eva in Minnesota; a great niece; as well as many friends and extended family. She was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Alfred and Annabelle (Logan) Harris and lived for many years, between Worcester and New York City.

A Calling Hour for Dorothy will be held on Monday, February 22, from 10 a.m. until her Funeral Service begins at 11 a.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment will follow in Hope Cemetery, Worcester.

Such a lovely lady. I got to know Dot when she would come to Jamesbury Corp to see Willy and Wally. Always a smile on her face.
She made the world a better place. God Bless.
