James D. LaPrad

Milford - On Father's Day night, the world lost a very special person – a loving son, father, brother and friend. He was lost due to an accident which occurred because of his Parkinson's disease. He is missed by all who knew him.

James D. "Jim" LaPrad, 47, of Milford was a graduate of Medway High School, Class of 1987 and earned his BA Degree in History from Excelsior College in Albany, NY with a concentration in Biotech educational training.

Mr. LaPrad had been employed at Nitto Denko Avecia, Inc. in Milford as a Senior Validation Specialist before retiring last year due to Parkinson's.

Jim was born in Staten Island, NY the son of Donald C. and Frances A. (Ashmankas) LaPrad of Worcester and had been a resident of Auburn and Medway before moving to Milford 14 years ago. He was active in scouting and was a founder of Boy Scout Troop # 314 in Milford. Jim held a Black Belt in Karate and was active in community theatre including Enter Stage Left Theater in Hopkinton. He was a lifelong musician and composer and was a member of several bands, playing guitar, drums, piano and was a vocalist.

He was very active with his children and loved camping, golf and panning for gold. Jim was a talented handyman who could fix anything.

Mr. LaPrad is survived by his children Thomas and Josephine (Josie) LaPrad of Milford, his parents, one sister, Deanna and her husband John Grenier of Shrewsbury, his former wife, Erin K. (Ahearn) LaPrad of Milford, along with the Ahearn Family, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Per Jim's request, there will be no calling hours or funeral service.

A Celebration of Life for Jim will be held on Friday, June 30, 2017 at 6 PM in the Hopkinton Center for the Arts, 98 Hayden Rowe, Hopkinton followed by a reception.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Parkinson Disease Assoc., 135 Parkinson Ave., Staten Island, NY 10305 or to The Michael J. Fox Foundation, P.O. Box 5014, Hagerstown, MD 21741-5014.

Hey guys I am really sorry for this terrible loss. It's really unfortunate that this had to happen. But I know one day we'll all meet up in Heaven and have that jam session he always loved. He helped Tom and me start our band, so praying for him is the least I can do.

Deanna, John, Fran, Don, Erin, Tommy and Josie, our heart breaks for you all over the loss of Jim. May all your love and wonderful memories be forever treasured in your hearts. I wish we could take away your pain. I know deep down that Jim will always be by your side, watching over you all. We wish you light, strength and love to get you through the coming days.
