Mary R. Manuell, 87

PAXTON - Mary R. (Laurie) Manuell, 87, passed away peacefully on Monday, February 5 at Tatnuck Park Assisted Living, Worcester.

Her husband Dr. James L. Manuell died in 2002. She leaves her daughter Mary-Elise Smith and her husband Russell of Paxton, a granddaughter Jacqueline M. Smith of Worcester, three sisters; Penny Gleason of Canada, Judy Gautier of Canada and Elizabeth Martin of France, several nieces and nephews and her sweet faithful golden retriever, Bailey.

Mary was born in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada, daughter of Dr. Neil and Mary (Battle) Laurie. She lived in Washington, DC, New York City, West Brookfield and most recently Paxton. She graduated from Loretta Academy, St. Joseph's School of Nursing, Forham University and from New York University with a Masters Degree in Public Health. She studied art history and oil painting at Catholic University as well as interior design at New York School of Interior Design. Her professional work was done at Georgetown University and NYU Medical Center before retiring in 1993. She enjoyed playing poker and gardening and was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. The family would like to thank her physician Dr. John Batbouta as well as the wonderful staff at Tatnuck Park Assisted Living facility for their amazing care, love and support.

A Memorial service will be held Monday, February, 12 at 6:00 PM in MORIN FUNERAL HOME, 1131 Main Street, Leicester. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will precede the service from 4:00-6:00 PM. in lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to; Worcester County Food Bank (https://foodbank.org/) or to Yankee Golden Retriever Rescue Inc (www.ygrr.org).
