Every time we go for check ups at the Cancer Center at UCSF, I think of Lura. She was a beautiful woman that has the best personality. She gave me hope and her memory still lives on in me. I could see she was a special uplifting spirit. Again my condolences to her family.

Lura was a beautiful human being. I had the privilege of having her as a trusted real estate source when I worked as a business writer for the local newspaper. She was charming, witty and super smart. I loved her dearly as a friend and fellow professional. I am so very sorry for her loss. A part of me as passed with her.

I knew Lura when she first moved to Nashville when she was in high school. She was a neighbor of mine at the time and always thought she was a special person in so many ways--unlike the typical high school student. We did see each other from to time in the 1960s and 1970s. Our lunch time together in the 1980s had to be used for her to prepare for the real estate license. That was the last time I had contact with her, as I had moved several years earlier to another state 550 miles away. Happy to know she became most accomplished in her real estate business. I always thought she was a most unique lady in many respects and glad to know Nashville also appreciated her individuality. So very sorry she passed away, and my sympathies are with her husband, son (I remember him as a child), and grandchildren.

I was thinking about the two people I met during my husbands treatment for cancer in California. I was so sad to hear that Lura passed away. She was a delight to talk to during that scary time in my life. I am so sorry for her family and husband. I will always remember her is a special way.

I met Lura briefly at church, but have seen her picture in the newspaper for years. A sweet, lovely, Christian woman.

I knew just a few years of Lura, her sister Linda and I were
friends and younger than Lura. I always thought every time I
was at their home that Lura was so beautiful and so were the
large oil paintings of all the children in the foyer of their
home. I am sure she will be missed by her family.

I am another one of her classmates from the school in Florida. We had a reunion of our small school last summer and I got to meet Tommy and revisit with Lura. She lit up the room with her smile and Tommy was kind enough to put up with our bunch as we "talked shop".
My heart goes out to Lura's family and Tommy - we all lost a wonderful person.

So go run free with the angels
Dance around the golden clouds
For the lord has chosen you to be with him
And we should feel nothing but proud
Although he has taken you from us
And our pain a life time will last
Your memory will never escape us
But make us glad for the time we did have
Your face will always be hidden
Deep inside our hearts
Each precious moment you gave us
Shall never, ever depart
So go run free with the angels
As they sing so tenderly
And please be sure to tell them
To take care of you now you're free

My thoughts and prayers go out to Lura's family...Tom who loved and adored his mother immensely and her grand-daughters that were stars in her eyes; Tommy Brothers who made her life complete; and her loving sisters that supported each other thru and thru and all of the Bird family. Lura will be remembered to me as a beautiful, intelligent, gutsy business woman that I admired and respected. She loved her family so much and much like her little brother Bobby, had a heart of gold...So very sad to hear of her passing...my heart cries, but also rejoices as I think of the reunion she is having with her mom and dad and brother Bobby.... Peace and Love Mary Stiles Johnson and family
