In 1977 my wife and I along with my parents, visited Nashville and took a private bus tour with Sylvia as our tour guide. She was the most delightful lady, and when she sang, I was totally captivated and I bought a cassette from her.. I played it till I wore it out.
In 2008 I returned to Nashville with my daughter, and when the gray line driver was taking us to our motel. I mentioned Sylvia and he said she was still working for Gray, but she had the weekend off so we did not see her..
I am so sorry to see that she has passed away, but I am sure that she is safe with Jesus.
Sylvia was truly a human treasure, and captured my heart in one afternoon on a delightful tour of Nashville.
I remember when we looked at Tammy Wynette's house she smiled and told us that Tammy stood by her man, but just not that long. What a wonderful memory of a wonderful lady may you rest in peace.

Paige, I will be thinking of you and all your family tomorrow. I met Sylvia several years ago while visiting my sister June Stearns Burdette. She would always come to see me and sing with us. I kept in touch with her up until the last few weeks of her life. I visited her in the nursing home last year. We had lots of laughs and good times. I will always remember Sylvia. She was a very talented girl and she loved you very much. May God be with you the rest of your life.

Eddie Wayne, our thoughts and prayers are with you, Melody and the family. May God guide you through this time of sorrow. Though the days in Lake City are long gone I just have to close my eyes and go back to visit. We cherish our memories and know they will grow sweeter with time. With love and God's Blessings, Sonny and Sharon Sartin

Sylvia and I have been great friends for 50 years. We met at a D.J. Convention (now called CMA Fest) in 1967. I persuaded her to move to Nashville, so she and Bud did, along with Carson. We sang at different places including senior citizen homes. The people enjoyed that and so did we. I played the piano and sang alto with her. She was a good person with a great personality. Everyone loved her. We never had an unkind word between us. That says a lot for the person she was. We shared some tough times between us, we helped each other in all that each one could do. We always gave our advise to each other from the heart and the right thing. She always accepted it that way. Sylvia loved to sing and write songs. She was good at it. She would say something funny and I would say to her, "Now go write a song about that" and she would.
She wanted Paige so bad when she was a baby. She asked me how I was at raising a child, since my son and his wife were killed in an accident, I was raising their baby, Brittany. I told her if I can do it at this age, you can do it. She got the baby soon after, and loved and cared for her dearly. Paige is a remarkable lady now. Something Sylvia can be proud of. There are too many things to mention, my heart is broken from the loss of her, but my mind knows where she is eternally and that says it all. There is much comfort from our Lord when these things happen. We have to be in the faith, and Sylvia did. She loved her Lord. She was always excited to see someone come forth to the alter to be saved. She always was the first to greet them afterwards to give them support in their new journey as a Christian. Jonathan, our pastor, Sylvia and I sang at church, we were a great trio. Our love drew us closer as we sang for Him. I will miss her and I love her so much, that will never change. There just aren't many times in our life that we have such a great friend. Love and miss you Sylvia, Florine

Sylvia lived next door to my parents, Doyle and Josephine Chatham, on McChesney Ave. in Nashville for many years. She was a wonderful neighbor and friend to them. May her precious soul rest in peace and may her family find comfort in the love of family and friends.
