Alice Rougeux Obituary
She was born on Grove Hill in Gibson Township, Cameron County, PA on May 15, 1917 to Albert H. and Myrta Hill Jordan.
She was the fifth of six children. She married Paul L. Rougeux in October 1936, and raised 3 sons, Gregory, Jordan and Pierre and step-children Larry, Catherine and Sandra Rougeux.
During her life she was always quick with a joke, a smile and sometimes even a little tap dance!
She drag raced her 1965 Comet until 1975, and always regretted trading it in.
Alice had a varied working life. She worked for Sylvania in Emporium, PA, and much later for Westinghouse in Bath, NY. In between she took jobs harvesting potatoes and cutting seed potatoes for various farmers in the Avoca/Wallace NY area. She also worked as a waitress at the Goodrich Diner in Avoca to keep her three boys clothed and fed.
In the 1950's she was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts in Wallace.
Later still, she joined Greg and Pierre in Running Citrus Carpet in Orange City, FL, becoming a full partner with Pierre after Greg moved away.
She was a member of St. Ann's Catholic Church in DeBary. She is survived by sons Gregory (Michelle) of Cape Coral, FL and Pierre (Mary) of DeBary, and stepdaughter Catherine (Jim) Lotti of Orlando, twelve grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 pm on Friday, Nov. 1 at Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand, and a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in DeBary at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 2.
Interment will be in the family cemetery on Grove Hill adjacent to her birthplace.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas PL., Memphis, TN 38105.
