Lucille Jane Heckman

DRESHER — Lucille Jane Heckman entered the church triumphant on Sept. 23, 2014.

Born in Scranton, she was a daughter of the late Herbert Franklin and Alice Foss Heckman. She was a graduate of the Clarks Summit Senior High School, Keystone Junior College and received a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry from Temple University. She also completed a medical technologist course at Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia.

Her professional career began at the Cardeza Foundation, Plasma Unit, Jefferson Hospital, and continued at Moses Taylor Hospital and Daystrom Instrument Division, Archbald. Upon relocation to the Philadelphia area, she took a position in the laboratory at the Exide Battery Company. Her career at Wyeth in Radnor, as a chemist, spanned a period of over 20 years.

Lucille loved to garden as evidenced by her beautiful rose and Japanese gardens at her home in Dresher. She was an avid traveler and an artist as well. She was a kind, sincere person and will be remembered for how she ministered to her parents as they depended on her for their care giving in their later years. She was currently a member of the Jarrettown United Methodist Church of Dresher.

The family would like to sincerely thank the caregivers at Green Ridge Care Center and the Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their compassionate care during Lucille's last illness.

Surviving is a sister, Gayle Heckman Hamilton, Clarks Summit; two first cousins, the Rev. Donald Roth, Naples, Florida, and Marilyn Schumann, Williamsburg, Virginia.

The funeral service was held at the First Presbyterian Church of Clarks Summit, 300 School St., Clarks Summit, with services by the Rev. William Carter, pastor. Interment will be private at the convenience of the family in Fairview Memorial Park, Elmhurst.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Elm Park United Methodist Church, 712 Linden St., Scranton, PA 18510.
