Wilma Dartez Obituary

Wilma Davis Dartez

LAFAYETTE - Wilma Davis Dartez caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister passed away Saturday March 11, 2017 at her home in Kingwood, Texas. She was born December 8, 1930 in Maracaibo, Venezuela to Stanley Fox and Livia Vasquez Davis.

Her early years were spent in Caracas, Venezuela until the family moved to the United States where Wilma attended high school in Abbeville, Louisiana. She graduated valedictorian. She married Francis Albert Dartez on February 15, 1953 and shortly after graduated from SLI (USL/ULL) with a degree in Foreign Languages. As the family grew they lived in Louisiana, Texas, Georgia and finally retiring to Kingwood, TX.

Wilma was an avid reader and a very talented seamstress, teaching classes at the local Bernina store. She was an excellent cook and with her husband enjoyed cooking and sharing good times with an International Dinner group. She was engaged in helping her children to learn and grow by being a room mother, Girl Scout leader, Den mother, and twice becoming a mother to foreign exchange students.

Wilma and Francis shared with their children a love of water with frequent trips crabbing, fishing, to the beach and weekends at their lake house. They enjoyed traveling the world meeting many friends along the way. Together they volunteered at Goodwill Industries and greeting visitors to the Atlanta airport. Everyone was a friend.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Francis Albert Dartez and her parents, Stanley and Livia Davis.

Wilma is survived by her four children: Phyllis (Stephen) Dartez Bost of Kingwood, Texas; Cynthia (Jimmy) Dartez Walker of Pleasant Grove, Utah; Douglas Dartez of Plano, Texas and Thomas (Prissy) Dartez of Jacksonville, Florida; eight grandchildren: Brandon (Carly) Dartez; Travis Bost, Levi (Anna) Walker; Austin Walker; Brian Bost; Kacey (Michael) Dartez Mead, Kristen (Casey) Dartez Slingerland; Davis Dartez; sibling: Emma (Red) Davis Lerille and numerous nieces, nephews and in laws.

The family would like to express their heartfelt thanks for all the loving care, companionship and attention provided by Teresa Granados, Tammie Banks, Maria Garcia, Annie Hudson and Theresa Obledo. Thanks also to HCA of North Houston and Yvette Gilbert.
