She taught me several secretarial courses from '81-'85. One day she told me that I reminded her of herself. She also called me a stickler. I never forgot that. She was a great teacher and mentor.

What I want to be in my 90's. Bossy, well-read and I want to know where the best restaurants are. I want to decide when to celebrate Christmas so all my kids and grandkids will be at my house on one day. I only met Ms Bentey in 2013 but I spent many hours with her and learned details of her amazing life. A born storyteller. She could put her hands on an address from 4 decades ago. And did. We had probably crossed paths many times but this time we both slowed down long enough for her to teach me. Thank you all for sharing her! God Bless.

Dr.Bentley was an inspiration to all who knew her. I was fortunate to be her student. She was the star of our class reunion last year. How lucky we all were to know her. Fern Betar Waguespack, NISH class of 1958.

Doris was indeed one of a kind. She knew more about the Broussard family than anyone I know. She was a joyful person and I'm proud to say she was my cousin. I am so sorry I won't be able to attend the funeral - I am working out of town and can't make it. But she and her family are in my thoughts and prayers.

I am shocked and saddened to learn of Dr. Bentley's passing. I grew up with Dr. Bentley and her children in my life, then moved on to USL, and she was the Head of my Department. She was a woman's woman who guided her students, shared the dreams that were possible in our field of study, and was always there for us after we graduated. My dad and I took her to La Fonda shortly before Katrina, and had a great time catching up on "life after academics." I will miss her greatly, but her lectures, teachings, and example will live with me forever. I know she will be teaching at the Golden University in Heaven. Thank you Dr. Bentley for helping make me into the woman I am today - fantastic!!! Rest in peace!

Toby and I are so sorry to hear of "Maw Maw's" passing. What a special person, friend, grandmother and great grandmother she was to our family--and to all who knew her. The world was a better place with her here, but we know she is with her Lord and family in a better place. We will sorely miss her. There was a special depth and joy to her we loved much!!!
