Theresa "Oma" Zaunbrecher Broussard

BROUSSARD - A Mass of Christian Burial for Mrs. Theresa Zaunbrecher Broussard, 79, will be held at 10:00AM on Friday, June 24, 2011 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Broussard with Father Louis Richard officiating. Visitation will be held at David Funeral Home of Lafayette on Thursday, June 23, 2011 from 10:00AM until 9:00PM with a Rosary being prayed at 7:00PM. Visitation will resume on Friday, June 24, 2011 from 8:00AM until service time. Interment will follow in Lafayette Memorial Park.

A native of Roberts Cove and resident of Broussard, Mrs. Broussard passed away at 12:10PM on Tuesday, June 21, 2011 at her residence. She and her husband were married in St. Michael Catholic Church in Crowley. Mrs. Theresa worked as a secretary to Bishop Jarrell when he was in Broussard. She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Sacred Heart Ladies Altar Society and St. Leo Altar Society in Roberts Cove. She was a volunteer for the Germanfest Museum in Roberts Cove and was involved in starting the museum. "Oma" enjoyed quilting and continued the German tradition of the Feast of St. Nicholas in her home so her grandchildren could experience it.

She is survived by her children, Stephanie Broussard of Lafayette, Claire B. Hebert and husband Ernest of Broussard, Donna B. Nance and husband Gary of Youngsville, Geralyn B. Biediger and husband A.O. "Trey" III of Victoria, TX, Brian G. "Bruce" Broussard and wife Donna of Youngsville, Kevin G. Broussard and wife Rechelle of Lyons Point and Karen Rabalais and husband Arthur "Rocky" of Broussard; 18 grandchildren, AECS (AW/SW) Thomas Hebert US Navy, Daniel Hebert, Jack Arceneaux, Michael Nance, Kristi Biediger Gibson, Brent Biediger, Valerie Biediger, Stacie Baudoin, Blake Broussard, Paige Broussard, Shevon Broussard, Camille Broussard, Maria Broussard, Matthew Broussard, Luke Broussard, Caleb Broussard, Alexandra "Alex" Rabalais and Cullen Rabalais; five great-grandchildren, Gabriel and Grace Hebert, Cami Breaux, Kameron Arceneaux and Aubrey Gibson; and five siblings, Felix Zaunbrecher, Mary Agnes Fabacher, Jo Ann Ronkartz, Wiletta Phillips, Francis "Bud" Zaunbrecher.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Jean Edwin Broussard; her parents, William Fredrick and Maria Leonards Zaunbrecher; and two brothers, Paul Zaunbrecher and Richard Zaunbrecher.

Serving as pallbearers will be her grandsons.

The family will like to express sincere thanks to Dr. Katherine Strothers and Hospice of Acadiana for the compassionate care shown to Mrs. Broussard. They would also like to express a special thank you to her loving caregiver, Veronica Duhon.

Cousin Anna sent me the obituary for your mother. I was so sorry to read about it. It is always difficult to lose a much loved one. I hope your family and siblings and families will help you heal.
