Bernice Winstead Obituary
LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Sunday, April 10, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Bernice Winstead, age 85, who passed away Friday, April 8, 2010 at 5:45 a.m. at Lafayette General Medical Center in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery in Lafayette.
Mrs. Winstead was a lifelong resident of Lafayette.
Survivors include one son, Jean Richard Berthelot his wife, Earline, of Church Point; one daughter, Terry Duhon of Carencro; five grandchildren, Melissa Olivier and her husband, Sylvan, Jean Andre Berthelot and his wife, Cathleen, Angela Strahlman and her husband, Fred, Frank Duhon, Jr. and his wife, Nancy, and Stacie Bearb and her husband, Shawn; thirteen great grandchildren; three great, great grandchildren; and two sisters, Lorita Schexnayder and Edith Menard and her husband, John, all of Lafayette.
She was preceded in death by her former husband, Jean Aristide Berthelot; and her parents, Willie Mitchell Winstead and the former Angelle Marie Schexnayder.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m. Saturday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Sunday.
Pallbearers will be Frank Duhon, Jr., Dustan Prejean, Joshua Sonnier, Jacob Berthelot, Shane Dupuis, Jr. and Stanley Dupuis. Honorary pallbearers will be Sylvan Olivier, Drake Duhon and Braidan Sonnier.
