Al Guidry Obituary
CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at a 1:00 p.m. graveside service at St. Peter Roman Catholic Cemetery in Carencro for Aldus Guidry, Jr., age 68, who passed away Friday, January 1, 2016 at 10:15 p.m. at his residence in Albany, Louisiana.
Interment will be in St. Peter Catholic Cemetery in Carencro.
Mr. Guidry was a native of Arnaudville and resident of Albany. He was an altar boy when attending St. Leo the Great Catholic Church in Leonville. He was previously employed at the old Evangeline Downs, coached basketball at Teurlings High School, Leonville and the AAV basketball team before eventually becoming a sports writer for the Natchitoches Times and Hammond Daily Star.
Survivors include his wife, Janet Guidry of Albany; one son, Coby Guidry of Carencro; one brother, Ricky Guidry of Alexandria; one sister, Elsie G. Mire of Breaux Bridge; three grandchildren, Brooke Guidry, Hallie Guidry and Jayden Guidry; one great-grandchild, Emmalynn Grace; six nephews, Sullivan Hooper and wife, Kim, Lolly Taylor, III, Joshua Clark, Christopher Weaver, Toby Guidry and Kurt Guidry; six nieces, his godchild, Lita Taylor, Melissa Taylor, Belinda Taylor, Annette Mire Anders, April Mire and Desiree Guidry; nine great nephews; ten great nieces; ten great-great nephews; three great-great nieces; a special cousin, Shirley Guillory and her husband, Tuerling; and numerous family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Aldus "Buck" Guidry, Sr. and the former Ruby Savoie.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 11:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
Pallbearers will be Coby Guidry, Sullivan Hopper, Don Wills, Riley Huston, Cade Hutson, and Lolly Taylor, Jr.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the nurses and staff of Legacy Hospice, North Oaks Hospital and Post-Acute Hospital, especially Dr. Gupta, Dr. Rab, Dr. Sachdeu and Dr. Yertha.
