I am so sorry for your loss. I remember Ross well. I worked for a food broker, and every time I came in, Ross had something new to share with me. He was a wonderful man who blessed everyone he came in contact with. Our prayers are with you. Sheryl & Robert Waltman

I left Plaquemine in November 1961 and only returned on occasions to visit family. I still remember Ross and his wonderful personality.
I rode the bus, with Ross one day, when my mother and I had been in Baton Rouge. He was a pleasure to know and talk to. The world was a better place because of Ross.

God has definitely received an angel. Ross' smile was contagious! He was always so sweet and genuinely so. I'm so fortunate to have known him.

So very sorry for the loss of Mr. Ross. My family met Mr. Ross at St. James Place while visiting our mother. He was such a friendly and gentle man. We always enjoyed talking, dancing and playing bingo with him. He never met a stranger. St. James Place will not be the same without Mr. Ross. He will be deeply missed.

I worked at the Greyhound bus station in Baton Rouge from 1953 until I was drafted into the Army in 1957. Little Ross Zito was one of our "family" at the station. He finished school in downtown each day and then rambled through the streets observing lift until he reached the station on St. Phillips Street, beside the old state capitol. He knew everyone working in the bus station and everyone knew him. We all helped in making sure that Ross got on his bus on time. He had a big, happy smile for everyone he talked to. But, he like to amble and play around too much sometime, and would miss his long commute back to Plaquemine. On these occasions we would call his mother to report her errant boy,and she would say, "Again! Well, put him in a taxi and send him home", which of course, we did.
The usual bus driver on Ross' route was Mr. Joe Brue, and Joe love to tease Ross, in a loving, not a mean way. One day Ross got on the bus and then decided he had to go to the restroom. MR. Joe told him to hurry as departure time was getting near. Ross flew off the bus and went into the terminal - and took his sweat time. The window to the men's room was close to where the bus loaded. Mr. Joe kept speaking to Ross through the window that he had to come on. No Ross. Finally Mr. Joe yelled, "Ross, I'm leaving now!". He shut the bus door and revved the engine. The terminal door flew open and Ross came flying out holding up his pants, and flew up the steps to his favorite front seat, causing amusement to the other passengers. As things settled down and the bus left the terminal, Ross suddenly yelled out, "Oh, Mr. Joe! I forgot to wipe myself!" Needless to say, there was much amusement after this public announcement.
When I visit Baton Rouge every couple of years, another co-heart, and I, who work during those years invariably "talk shop" about our days at Greyhound. And I always ask the question, "Do you remember little Ross Zito from Plaquemine?" Of course, he does.
I hope Dear Ross is today giving Mr. Joe Brue back some of his teasing, in a loving way, of course.

Ross was such a kind and gentle man. I remember him greeting us when we went into the supermarket and when he delivered groceries to my late grandmother, Bertha Himel. He will always have a special place in our hearts. He was an angel.
