St. Patrick's Day, your birthday and mine was always a blast as we always traveled somewhere special for the entire week, Ireland, Chicago, New Orleans, Biloxi, Florida, etc. March will never be the same, nor will St. Pat's Day. RIP, my friend. We all miss you terribly, especially at this time of year.

I had the pleasure of meeting Melva in 2004, I worked for her in her notary shop for a brief time. I will miss her jokes, warm smile, good judge of character and her no-nonsense attitude. Melva always gave it to you straight, she cut no corners.
I learned a lot from Melva, she was a hard working independent woman who never let you forget it. She gave me a chance when I needed one and I will forever be grateful.
Rest in Peace.

Marilyn Buzbee put my sentiments so well. When I contacted Melva to become one of the 4,000, I hadn't seen her for twenty years, but we picked right up where we left off, a sign of a real friend.

Melva ranks up there among the "most unforgettable characters" with me. You never had to wonder where she stood on any particular subject...she was very clear on that. Many fond memories of her since I first met her in the '70s. When LSU had a home game, her brother Eugene would come to the game then visit Fellowhsip Church the next day. He was the only one of her family I knew. But I will lift each of you up in prayer as you embrace your loss. Those of us who knew her lost a dear friend.

Please accept our condolences in this time of distress. God however, gives us a wonderful promise that we as well as our loved ones will benefit in the near future.

I had the honor of meeting Ms. Melva and was delighted by her sense of humor and liveliness. When I asked if she was kin to Eugene she simply said "that ole ugly thing.....he's my brother". I had the honor of knowing her aunt Norene wife of Avon and their son her cousin Michael Cavanaugh. I grew up with her cousin Audrey (Happy) Cavanaugh Jordan and her son Frances and his family. My dad and Eugene were also friends. Melva has passed over to Beulah land a place we all long for and have no fear of and having the Chariot of the Lord come down to pick us up for our journey to Paradise. She will get to meet St. Patrick himself and have a great celebration in the sky Lord in the sky. May the Lord comfort you as her loss on earth is heavy on the heart but the knowledge of her healthy body in Heaven carries more peaceful thoughts. My prayers go to the family and special friend. Follow the Lord for the great reunion in the sky a great circle of fellowship.

I didn't know Melva too well personally, but as a Notary, she was a great inspiration. What a wealth of knowledge she had, and she was so willing to share and help all Notaries succeed. My condolenses to the Cavanaugh family (by birth and by choice). A great lady has passed on - there will be a giant void where she was. Thanks for all you've done for so many, Melva. Melva was force of nature filled with humor and respect for everything she did and everyone she interacted with. The world could use a lot more like her and so could the Justice system. Thank you for your service. Our deepest sympathies to Melva's friends and family.
