I was so sad to hear of Dr. Tipton passing. At the time, I was in Oklahoma helping my mother on the farm. From 1972 - 1975 I had the opportunity to work under Dr. Tipton. He was a great mentor and friend. I have many good memories of him, especially the times when we harvested small grain test plots. Mrs Tipton, Kenny and Nancy please know that you are in our prayers.

The friendship of the Tipton family is still so fondly remembered. Especially appreciated is Ken's kindness to me in recent years in Gloster. I am so sad at his passing, but glad he didn't fade.

I was so sad to read the the UBC notice of Dr. Tipton's passing while I was traveling. It was quite a surprise as he appeared in such good health. I appreciated reading about his founding role at UBC and his accomplishments at LSU. He will be greatly missed, his ready smile and words of encouragement. I'm sorry I was traveling out of town and wasn't able to honor him at the memorial service.

I was so saddened to hear of Dr. Tipton's passing. The Tipton family is so much a part of my growing up years. My mother and you, Mrs. Tipton, were great friends. Dr. Tipton and Dad had a wonderful bond, over coffee, where Dad says they, "would solve all the world's problems." We all know where Dr. Tipton is, right now. Prayers for the whole family.

With love--

Mrs Barbara, memories of Mr Ken trace back 40 years to Boy Scout days when Kenny and I were blessed to be guided by your husband's gentle, but firm voice. He spent many hours on camping trips pouring his life into young men. We were better boys and hopefully more equipped as men because of him. Quick to flash a smile and even quicker to give a ride to a 9th grader hitching a ride home after basketball practice, many loved his selfless attitude.

Tonight, it's sweet to remember a man of integrity and a Christ follower that we all looked up to.

Blessings and prayers,

Arlette Rodrigue

Dear Barbara,
Saddened to learn the news about Ken. Our daughter-in-law, Jill (Hodges)Jordan is the daughter of some of your neighbors, LaRay and Jackie Hodges and sent the me the message. Many years ago, 1959, you and Ken were gracious to invite Bettye and me to University Baptist where we attended until graduation in 1961. We moved to MSU in 1968 only to once again cross your paths as Ken was obtaining his PhD. He and you made a difference in our lives from that initial contact and got us involved with University Baptist. May God Bless you and give you grace and strength in the days ahead.

Dearest Barbara,
Although we haven't had personal contact for many years, I, personally will NEVER forget how wonderfully kind you and Ken were to Pat and me back in 1996 when we had just moved here from Mississippi State University with our 3 children. Pat was joining LSU as Department Chair and was happy to have Ken on his team. I also remember with fondness when you visited me at home and checked to make sure I was doing "all right". I admit I was scared of such a big city (ha) and the school system here and unloaded it all at our visit together! You were extremely kind and reassuring and I will always remember your generosity! I am so sorry you have lost your life's companion and know you have many friends, family, and, ESPECIALLY, Our Lord, Jesus, from whom to draw daily sustenance. Please phone me or come to visit when you feel stronger and need a GOOD EAR!!! ANYTIME. Sincerely, Michele Hegwood

Barbara and family,
Ken was a great friend always, and a great boss while I was Resident Director at the Sweet Potato and Calhoun Research Stations. He called me and invited me to interview for the Sweet Potato Station job when I was at the Clemson Coastal Station, thus my coming into the LSU Ag Center.
I know that Ken lives on in your hearts, as he lives on in my heart and memories.
Please accept my condolences.

Dear Barbara and Family, May the Lord comfort you as you say goodbye for a time. I have fond memories of our times together at the LSU/BSU. Probably would not have heard of Ken's death except the Lord brought our daughter's together at the BSU many years later. I lost Dallas in 1976 so I know a little of what you feel today. The Lord is faithful and will comfort and strengthen you at this special time.

I had hoped to see Uncle Ken at the family reunion next summer. Guess it will have to wait until God decides it's time to call me to that big Tipton reunion in Heaven. You were loved very much and will be sorely missed. I will always remember him and his pipe. Love, hugs, and prayers to Aunt Barbara, Kenny, Nancy, and their families.

The first time I met Uncle Ken, he and Barb got down on the floor and played with our little dachshund, Pogo. Not sure who was happier: the dog or K&B. Anyone who gets on the floor to play with dogs are good people in our book. Our prayers are with Barb, Ken Jr., Nancy and their families. We will be thinking of you on Friday. Much love!

Mr. Tipton (and Mrs Barabara Tipton) have been the best neighbors the Lindquist family have ever had. We will sorely miss Ken and his kindness, his humor, and most of all his friendship. God bless.
