Ann Oncale Obituary

Ann "BaBa" Anastasio Oncale, 86, was called to Heaven peacefully by Our Lord on Saturday, Jan. 1, 2011, after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer's. She was a native of White Castle, past resident of Chalmette for 55 years until Hurricane Katrina, and living in Napoleonville. Preceded in death by her daughter, Ann Oncale; parents, Rose Domino and Santo Anatasio; and siblings, Mary A. Falgout, Rosa Anastasio, Santo "Tiena," Anthony "Tony," Sam, Joseph, Vincent and Charles Anastasio. Survived by her children, Susan O. Van Matre, of LaPlace; Helt J. Oncale Jr. (Renata), of Eppstein, Germany; and Patrick Gerard Oncale, of New Orleans; three grandchildren, Stacey A. Boudoin and Christina and Carla Oncale; great-grandchild, Devon M. Watson; and many nieces and nephews. The family would like to extend their appreciation to the CNAs, nurses and staff of Heritage Manor of Napoleonville and Cardinal Hospice. Special thanks to Paulette Nelson, who was a friend to not only Mom, but the family for the past two years. Family and friends are invited to attend a Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday, Jan. 8, at noon at St. Ann's Catholic Church, 411 St. Joseph St., Napoleonville. Friends may visit from 10 a.m. until service. Interment in White Castle Cemetery, 31755 Laurel Ridge Road, White Castle. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association at www.alz.org or (800) 272-3900. Arrangements by Thibodaux Funeral Home, (985) 446-8826.

I am so sorry to hear of your loss. I am her first cousin and have many happy memories playing at Aunt Rosa and Uncle Charlie's house. I am 90 years old and no longer live in White Castle. My prayers are with you.

Ann Oncale was one of the most wonderful ladies I have ever known in my whole and entire life. Truly this lady brought beauty into this world and that beauty was right from her pure gold heart! I have countless wonderful and loving moments I will always cherish of this lovely lady. The world lost a lovely lady but heaven gained one of the most heavenly angels EVER!

So sorry for your loss. I enjoyed getting to know ms Ann over the years at heritage manor. I will remember her for her beautiful dark eyes and her friendly smile. She always had a smile when you spoke to her. Such a blessing to get to know her. May God bless you all during this difficult time.
