Marvin P. Berteau

Marvin P. Berteau, 87 years old of Ponchatoula, Louisiana, passed away Monday, May 20, 2013, at North Oaks Medical Center, Hammond. He was born on September 24, 1925, in Ponchatoula, Louisiana, son of the late Peter and Leola Smith Berteau. Mr. Berteau was a native and lifelong resident of Ponchatoula. He retired from Himel Auto Parts in 1990 having served as office manager for 42 years. He was involved in a number of civic, political and volunteer organizations. He was also bilingual and proud of his Cajun heritage. He is survived by his wife of 64 years Elizabeth "Patsy" Walz Berteau; 4 sons, David (Jane), Paul (Linda), Alan and Charles (Karen); daughter Susan (Rick) Berteau Webb; niece Margo Rolling Randall; 6 grandchildren, Stefan and Celeste Berteau, Matthew (Rebekah Falkner) & Anna Webb (Cory Buecker) and Kaitlyn and Christian Berteau. He is preceded in death by his infant daughter Teresa; sister Merrette Rolling; and nephew Earl Rolling, Jr. Friends will be received Friday, May 24, 2013 from 10:00 am until the services begin at 2:00 pm at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home - Ponchatoula.
