Dear Mrs. Bussie, I am truly sorry for your loss of Mr. Bussie. I had the honor of first meeting Mr. Bussie when I was a student nurse at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, La. This was back in the 70's when Mr. Frazier was the hospital administrator. We served on the same committee. He was a very kind and gentle man. He always showed his deep concerns for important issues. I will never forget him. May you find peace in the days ahead. God Bless You, Jan Samson R.N.

No amount of words can begin to describe Mr. Victor Bussie adequately. He touched so many lives, both directly and indirectly, and was such a positive force and influence in everything he did. Kind, compassionate, brave, inspiring, respectful, fair and a keen sense of strategy - these are just a few words that describe this man, and they don't come close to scratching the surface of who he was.

Mr. Bussie represents the end of an era. He was a true gentleman from a time when gentlemen opened doors for ladies, always spoke with politeness and courtesy, rarely raised his voice, showed great respect for everyone, and put the needs of others before his own.

If only one role model could ever exist to demonstrate how to be an excellent husband, it would be Mr. Bussie. I had the honor of working with both he and Fran before his retirement, and I have always hoped to one day have a marriage like theirs. He always treated her with the utmost respect, care and consideration. He opened her doors and helped carry her things, listened to her when she spoke and smiled when she entered a room - and all of this after two decades of marriage. In turn, Fran treated him just as well, putting his needs first - knowing he never would because he was so dedicated to helping others. They were blessed to find each other and share such a long, beautiful life together.

Fran, my deepest condolences. Labor suffers a huge loss, the state of Louisiana does as well - but the bond the two of you share is like no other. I wish you peace during this very difficult time.

You have my deepest and heartfelt sympathy. Louisiana has lost a true LEGEND. Working men and women everywhere have lost a real CHAMPION. Victor and I last served together on the Municipal Fire and Police Civil Service Board. He has now returned to his Maker, who created him. May his soul rest in peace.

There will be none other to fill the void that is left by the passing of Victor Bussie. He was a vital part of our country's, our state's and our community's history. But most importantly, he will be missed by the many people who were lucky enough to have him as a part of their lives. It is with great sorrow and sympathy for his loving widow, Fran, that we say good-bye to this great man. We will miss you, Vic; your stories, your compassion, your mentoring, your advice, your generosity and most of all the love you have shown in accepting us as part of your family. May you rest in peace and enjoy the light of Christ in heaven. Until we meet again in that eternal resting place, we will remember you with much love and gratitude, not only for what you did, but for what you are: an honorable man, a loyal friend, a loving husband and father and a champion for those who needed you the most. We love you, sincerely, Terry and Tara Messenger, and family.
