I met Z through Cary, my art & antique mentor. I found Z to be equally interesting as Cary & very loving. Z was such a Blessing to me & my wife Charlene when Z took Charlene under her wing when Charlene battled breast cancer. Z's love, friendship, & intellect will be sorely missed.

Sweet and generous. She eagerly taught me about fairy rings, which I shared with my children. Delightful memory.

Zelda was a special friend that helped me through a tough time in my life,Breast Cancer. I met Zelda at Book Bazaar in 2002. I had just started Chemo treatments and Zelda was done with hers. She helped set me up at Cancer Services for a wig and additional hats, scarfs of her own. We were good friends for ten years. Zelda was such a giver- food, things and most of all herself. I will miss her smiles and hugs. :)

There are no words to say how much Zelda will be missed. She touched so many lives here in Baton Rouge that almost everyone you mentioned her name to that not only knew her, but didn't say how much they like her. This will always be thus. After Cary was gone she told me that all the people who called and invited her out we're been so good because of him. I agreed everyone thought the world of this special, special man....but that they were doing this also because of herself and watch it will continue to happen....which it did, of course! I miss her and hate I was. Gone to England during those last weeks. I treasure we had a very long talk just the 2 of us before I left.....and we said our goodbyes and all we needed to say just in case.
She will be missed at Book Barn and Bazaar.....she can never be replaced and some of our heart went with her. I will miss her help everyday. And all the days I work there alone....our favorite times for us to work was often when it was just the 2 of us.
I will miss the pictures and videos of your beautiful daughter.....Zelda adores her...she spoke of her with the same pride and love as she always has since She has of you Starr (which is when you were a young boy). She loved all 3 of you very much...as I know you know.

I just learned of Zelda's passing. She will be greatly missed. I always enjoyed her cheerful smile at our monthly Rosh Chodesh gatherings. She had such a big heart.

I knew your mother through the LSU Book Barn. I was extremely fond of her, and admired her so much. She was so interesting, and dynamic. She refused to let her illness define her. I will miss her, and all the ways she made my job so much more fun. My heartfelt sympathy. Anita Adams

Hello Starr,
Your mother invited my boys and I over for dinner when we moved to Baton Rouge. She cooked a delicious meal and gave us a tour of her spectacular garden. I will miss her greatly.

I do not know you all very well but wanted to extend my sympathies to you and the rest of Zelda's family and friends.
She was always very kind to me and I will miss our times joking around together very much.

Also, she was so kind to my cousin who is ill and I will never forget how much she did for her.

Dear Starr and Eugenia,
I met Zelda shortly after we moved to the Old Goodwood neighborhood in October 2003. We lived across the street from her. She was a wonderful person, a good friend, and a good neighbor. She would always welcome new people that moved into the neighborhood and she enjoyed walking her dog. I enjoyed helping her jump start her car and light her hot water heater because she was always very grateful and she would always bring my dog back when it got out. One time my dog got lost for three days, and her name tag fell off, she suggest that I go to the Bocage Animal Hospital and check if they had any information on my lost dog. Well they had a found dog flier for my dog Allie, and I was very happy to get my dog back. I will miss your mom.

My deepest sympathies to Starr and to her family and many friends. Zelda was an amazing lady and I shall miss her greatly. I knew her through my cousin who has multiple sclerosis. Zelda looked after her, brought her cooked food, took her to Dr. appts, aided her in countless ways. I've never met anyone so completely giving. Over the years I was only with her every now and then, but during those times I knew that I was in the company of complete goodness. Thank you, Zelda, for just you being you.I will never ever forget you, nor will I ever forget your kindnesses to my cousin.

Dear Starr and Eugenia,
Your mom was a unique soul. She loved and cared for everyone she knew. She was one of the most thoughtful friend
one can find. I feel lucky she touched my life. She will be always remembered for her good deeds. Zelda was an angel.

A few months after Cary passed, Zelda came to our home with his remaining colored mirror panes and a couple of his unfinished mosaics and proclaimed "you should finish these!" Having never remotely considered mosaics as a hobby I figured she was just being Zelda. A couple of days later I was teaching myself how to cut glass, then how to adhere to wood, then how to build frames and make designs. Ten years and dozens of pieces later, I have often wondered at how profoundly she altered the course of my life by awakening a passion I didn't know I had. We had a wonderful lunch with her in June in Carmel CA and she was radiant. She and Cary made our years in Baton Rouge richer and we will miss them for the rest of our lives.

A few months after Cary passed, Zelda came to our home with all of his remaining colored mirror panes and a couple of his unfinished mosaic pieces and said something to the effect of "You are the person who should finish these." Having never considered mosaics as a hobby, I thought she was just being Zelda. A couple of days later I was teaching myself how to cut glass and then how to apply it to wood frames. Ten years and dozens of mosaics later, I have often wondered at how profoundly she altered the course of my life for the better. We had a fun lunch with her last June in Carmel CA and she was radiant. She and Cary made our time in Baton Rouge so much richer and we will miss them both for the rest of our lives.

I will always remember Zelda as a beautiful and creative lady who was an inspiration to many, especially dear Cary, our friend. I am deeply sorry for your loss.

I first met Zelda not long after we moved to Old Goodwood. Not many people cross the threshold without Z introducing herself & current 4 leg critter. It was Mona then. Everyone who had a dog meets other dog lovers. It's from there you chat and learn about the other person. What I learned from Z is that there is nothing you can't accomplish if you put your mind to it. Feeding the hungry, housing the homeless, clothing the needy and sharing God's love through one's actions. That's exactly how Zelda lived. She walked the walk. And if she ever needed a favor, it was so small that you wished you could do more. Many of her neighbors and friends will miss her. Lots of people she never met would be praying for her tonight if they only knew. She was remarkable. And oh, if you were sick, there'd be her famous chicken soup at the door the next day. This weekend, please celebrate Zelda's life. Laugh, dance, sing & smile. That's what she'd want us to do. I love you Zelda and will remember you and miss you for the rest of my life.

In my life, I've met some amazing people who forever changed me. Zelda was one of the most amazing of all. I don't know of she ever knew how much she helped me on days when I felt discouraged, just sad, or how much she changed me. It was sometimes her smile or the unexpected phone message letting me know she was thinking of me, Cher'(her words) and that she loved me. Sometimes it was just her kindness that pulled me through. How much I appreciated her, I can only hope she knew. She was definitely one of a kind, a true Christian in this world. I picture her young, healthy and spreading her specialness all around heaven. I shall miss her and I shall never forget her.

Zelda was an usher at The Manship Theatre where I met her. She was always eager in her role as an usher. She fought hard and long, there will be a deep loss in our community. And she will be missed. Rest Zelda !

Zelda added so much love and life to our Fit and Fearless exercise classes when she came. I will treasure the time we had with her in class and the conversation we had waiting in line to vote together this past November. I loved seeing her walking Abbey early every morning and I'll always be thankful for the many times she brought our Labador back when he went visiting in the neighborhood. She will always be remembered for her engaging personality, warm spirit and generous heart. I will miss her.
