Regina Venditto Obituary
Regina was born in Brookline, Mass. on Jan. 27, 1935, daughter of the late Joseph and Sara (Haley) Strain. Regina graduated from Norte Dame Academy (HS), and was a magna cum laude graduate of both Boston College and Central Connecticut State University. While at Boston College, she was a member of the EKE (Alpha and Omega) Honor Society. Regina met the love of her life, Carl Venditto, while they both attended college in Boston. They were married on April 26, 1958. Regina's interests included a lifelong love of reading, having the family for Sunday dinners, watching Jeopardy, and researching her ancestry. She was a member of the Angela Thirkell Literary Society. Regina remained a loyal Boston College Eagles fan. Carl and Regina had many opportunities to travel together. Regina was passionate about education, a dedicated wife and loving mother to her family.
Regina is survived by her husband, of 57 years, Carl Venditto; her two daughters, Elizabeth (William) Hosmer, of Southington, Victoria (Mitchell) Gates, of Castle Rock, Colo.; and one son, Richard Venditto, of Newington. She will be missed by her grandchildren, Seth (Sabrina) Hosmer, Eric Hosmer, Gunther Gates and Kendryn Gates. Regina is also survived by a sister, Elizabeth Strain, of Brookline, Mass.; a brother-in-law, Eugene (Donna) Venditto, of Naples, Fla.; and a sister-in-law, Gerri Strain, of Seattle, Wash.; along with a nephew, Joseph (Catherine) Strain, of Seattle, Wash.; and a niece, Karen (David) Fletcher, of Arlington, Va.
The funeral will be on Monday, May 18, at 9:45 a.m. from the DellaVecchia Funeral Home, 211 N. Main St., Southington for a 10:30 a.m. Mass at St. Thomas Church, 99 Bristol St., Southington. A wake for Regina will be on Sunday, May 17, from 4 to 8 p.m. Internment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Regina's memory to CPTV, 1049 Asylum Ave., Hartford, CT 06105-2411 or Southington Community Services, 91 Norton St., Plantsville, CT 06479. Regina will be missed by her friends at The Hair Spa. She was a loyal guest at the salon for a very long time and a true friend. All the angels in heaven are rejoicing today! I can picture her running thru the spring flowers or reading a book by the stream.
I am sorry for your loss and will pray for the family this week as you grieve her passing. I loved Regina.
