Thomas Ralph Lipe

SALINAS

Thomas Ralph Lipe, 66, of Salinas, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2009, after a long illness.
A lifelong resident of Salinas, he was born Feb. 27, 1943, to William and Katherine Lipe. A graduate of Palma High School, he started Lipe Electric with only $50 dollars in his pocket, and with a strong work ethic, he successfully ran it for 22 years. He then worked as equipment manager at NH3 Service Company until retiring. His attention to quality and people was unsurpassed.
On Feb. 3, 1968, Tom married Sandra Naslund, in San Juan Bautista and had 41 wonderful years of marriage. Together, they enjoyed time at Lake Nacimiento, where Tom was an avid boater and skier. In addition, he enjoyed golfing, tinkering around the house and spending time with family and friends. For 40 years, he was a fraternal member of Native Sons of the Golden West, having served as past president. He was also a member of Elks for 41 years, and a former member of the Army National Guard Reserves.
Tom believed in working hard and playing hard, and will be remembered for his sharp sense of humor.
Survivors: He is survived by his wife, Sandra Lipe; his daughter, Jamie Lipe; his son and his wife, Todd and Stacia Lipe; his granddaughter, Zona Lipe; his siblings, James Lipe, Margaret Silveria, and Katherine Pistone; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Katherine Lipe, and his brother, Stephen Lipe.
Memorial service/Celebration of Life: 2 p.m. Wednesday, July 29, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Spreckels; with reception immediately following.
Memorials: In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be sent to the donor's favorite charity.
