Ruth Young

Ruth Mingos Young, 92, of 16 Mix Ave., Towanda, formerly of Monroeton, Pa., passed away peacefully Tuesday, Oct. 25, 2016, at her home.

Ruth was born in Liberty Corners, Pa., on Feb. 26, 1924, the daughter of Joseph H. and Margaret Duggan Mingos. She graduated from Towanda High School in 1943. On April 5, 1947, Ruth married Malcom A. "Brig" Young in Towanda. She was a member of the Ss. Peter and Paul Church, the Altar and Rosary Society, and the Daughters of the American Revolution. Ruth enjoyed crocheting, baking, sewing, and crewel embroidery. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She enjoyed traveling with her husband, and to visit her children and grandchildren.

Ruth is survived by her children, Dr. E. Barton Young and wife, Laurel of Towanda, Ann Koss and husband, Gregory of Milford, Mich., Susan Sharp and husband, Len of Liverpool, N.Y.;

grandchildren, Jeffrey Young, Kevin Young and wife, Diana, Brian Hoffmire and wife, Claire, Jennifer Hoffmire; great-grandchildren, Amelia Hoffmire, Madelyn Hoffmire, and Juliet Hoffmire;

and several nieces, nephews, and special friends.

In addition to her parents, Ruth was preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Malcolm A. "Brig" Young on March 12, 1999; and siblings, Helen Gale, Pauline Bride Wilbur, Edward Mingos, Louise McCarthy, Marguerite Wilson, Joseph Mingos, Dorothy Borick, and Robert Mingos.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016, at Ss. Peter and Paul Church, Towanda, Pa.

Interment will be in Monroeton Cemetery, Monroeton, Pa.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Maryott-Bowen Funeral Home, Towanda, Pa.
