Louis Kingsley Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Feb. 13, 2017.
Louis Gilbert Kingsley, 86, of East Smithfield passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Feb. 10.
Born Aug. 9, 1930 in East Smithfield, Louis spent his early years on a farm. He attended Troy schools and often reminisced about childhood and the mischievous antics of he and his brothers.
On Sept. 2, 1951, Louis married the former Doris Jean Raub. The couple shared 65 years of marriage.
With his passing comes a reunion with the mother he lost when he was 4, his father, brother, grandson and numerous loved ones lost through the years. We hope he'll be socializing and dancing to his heart's content.
Louis was a man of strong conviction. We were blessed to learn many valuable lessons from him during his 86 years, among them to love and respect one another as well as the value of hard work.
During the early years of Louis's life, he worked as a farmer. He also worked alongside his brother at Kingsley Lumber in East Smithfield, was a self-employed trucker and later hauled logs until his retirement.
He also enjoyed many hobbies through the years. Louis enjoyed spending time on his boat on Seneca Lake, being the mechanic for a stock car, and, in years past, hunting with his beloved beagle, Barney.
Louis will be remembered for his smile, work ethic and profound love of his family.
Louis is survived by his wife, Doris, at home; children, David (Sheila) Kingsley of East Smithfield,  Raub Kingsley of Milan, Rex (Pamela) Kingsley of Burlington, John Kingsley of Mainesburg, Laura (Rudy) Randolph of Queen Esther, Louella (Mike) Gilbert of Dundee, and Les (Jennifer) Kingsley of Milan; grandchildren, Brandy (Dave) Jennings of Wyalusing, Marcus (Tammy) Kingsley of East Smithfield, Brian (Jackie) Kingsley of Athens, Justin "J.D." (Brittney) Kingsley of Checkerville, Sarah Kingsley of Milan, Katie (Charles) MacBride of East Smithfield, Rachel (Thomas Lindemuth) Kingsley of Pittsburgh, Kristin (Bryant) Claytor of Mansfield, Brian (Kara Ray) Vosburgh of Sayre, Mindy Lewis of Marietta, Ohio, Stephanie Spiess of Cleveland, Ohio, Dr. Maddy (Sanel Sadibasic) Gilbert of Buffalo, Emily and Anna Gilbert of Dundee, and Kevin (Caitlin Cron) Kingsley of Columbia Cross Roads; great-grandchildren, Cali, Cole and Elana Jennings of Wyalusing, Brittany, Kyle and Nicholas Kingsley of East Smithfield, Emma (Daniel Killian) Kingsley of Milan, Noah Kingsley of Athens, Kamerin, Konner and Kadance Kingsley of Checkerville, Ethan and Mary Lynn Elliot of Milan, Norman, Nathaniel and Nelson MacBride of East Smithfield, Jake and Ocean Vosburgh of Sayre, and Sophia Edwards and Brayden Kingsley of Columbia Cross Roads; and a great-, great-granddaughter, Paisley Jane Killian of Milan.
Louis is also survived by brothers, Lawrence Kingsley of Milan, Richard (Rosalie) Kingsley of Springfield, and Layton (Elizabeth) Kingsley of Columbia Cross Roads; sisters, Linda Hardenstine of Milan, and Lois (Tom) Elvidge of East Smithfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Louis was predeceased by his parents, Oscar "OJ" and Margaret Keeler Kingsley; brothers, John and Laverne Kingsley; and a grandson, Jason Andrew Kingsley.
Louis made a difference in the lives of many. We invite you to celebrate his life with us from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15 at Vickery Funeral Home, 1093 W. Main St. in Troy. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 16, at the Federated Church in East Smithfield, followed by burial at Union Cemetery.
Don't worry, Dad. The last one out will turn off the lights.
