Earl Van Selous Obituary

Earl F. Van Selous, 95, of West Burlington, Pa., died Monday, April 16, 2007, at the Bradford County Manor.

Born in 1911 in Lambertville, N.J., he was the son of the late Lousia Holcombe-Van Selous-Atchley and Theodore Van Selous, husband of the late Katherine Winn Van Selous and brother of Charles Van Selous.

He is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, John C. and Christine Van Selous of Pennington, N.J.; granddaughter, Jill Van Selous-Murphy and her husband, Luc Y. Murphy, and great-granddaughter, Isabelle M. Murphy, of Alexandra, Va.; and a nephew, Robert C. Van Selous of Willingboro, N.J.

Earl and Katherine were residents of Hopewell Township. N.J., until 1971, when they moved to Troy, Pa.

Earl was a master carpenter. He enjoyed the outdoors and was an avid hunter, past president and active member of the Sylvania, Pa., Lions Club. He volunteered for the Bradford County Manor since 1995, where he received many awards for his efforts. He received the Volunteer of the Year Award in 1998 for the State of Pennsylvania County Homes.

There will be no viewing; burial will be in Holcombe Riverview Cemetery, Lambertville. The family has entrusted the Gerald W. Vickery Jr. Funeral Home Inc., 110 W. Main St., Troy, Pa., with the funeral arrangements.

My thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort. i had the opportunity of caring for earl at the Bradford County Manor for the last month. he always had a smile on his face, and would always make you laugh. Earl, i am going to miss you buddy. i will meet you on the other side. i love and miss you.
