Patricia Sorensen Obituary

Warwick, R.I. - Patricia Ann Sorensen, 57, died unexpectedly Friday, Jan. 17, 2014, at her home

She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., to Walter and Margaret Mioducki. She was proud to have been a (self- proclaimed) world champion stickball player, and the first girl on her block to own a pair of Levi's. In her early years, she thoroughly enjoyed all manner of rabble-rousing, including beating up on her younger brothers, Willy and Michael, smoking cigarettes with her sister, Sharon, in the bathtub, and other such exploits as punching a nun who pulled her ponytail one day at school simply because Patty-Ann was left-handed.

On Oct. 10, 1981, she married Steven Sorensen "for a goof" and they remained happily married for 31 years. Pat and Steve truly embodied the yin and yang of opposites attract - theirs being a love affair that endured its share of hardship. Mr. Sorensen survives her.

The couple had three children, Christopher Mioducki of Norwich, Victoria (Sorensen) Mueller of Uncasville, and Brandon Sorensen of New London. To say that two people couldn't have created three more different individuals is an understatement. Pat loved her children fiercely and pushed each of them to their best potential, as only a mother can. She loved her extended family as well, holding a special place in her heart for her daughter-in-law, Elizabeth; son-in-law, Timothy; and grandchildren, Samantha and Daniel. She was over the moon to be welcoming Tim and Victoria's first baby in the next few weeks.

Pat approached everything in her life with passion and fervor. To know her was to love her. She was fiery, fun, and smart as a whip. Those who were lucky enough to ever have encountered her will surely never forget her unique zeal and no-nonsense attitude. Her untimely passing leaves an unfillable void in the hearts of many.

There will be a Celebration of Life honoring Patricia in the Spring.

To my sister patty-ann:
The thought of you being gone from this earth is upsetting to me. I know its been awhile since we talked, I enjoyed our talk because you were sincere and and told me to keep my head up cause all things will workout. Well I am still waiting but am keeping my head up. All the memories have flooded my mind that you and I had, Being the black sheep of the family we sure did have our secrets. For a few days since I heard the news its hard knowing that I will not get that e-mail that you were sending or not hearing your voice, but I know you are in such a better place and you are now telling Mom all the things you needed her to know. But if you run into Robes-pierre you know that little dog you hit with the vega tell him it was Willy and Michael's fault not yours! You were a very good sister and a lot of fun, whether it was a BQ or thanksgiving in Connecticut or the ginger bread competition during Christmas it will be great memories. We always laughed a lot and talked about our childhood, but the one i always think and tell to others is the one when you and Sharon were looking for the subway in Rocky point to get back to Brooklyn, When Mom And dad hijacked us and made us live on Long Island, that is the funniest one. I will say this for the rest of my life that you were the most beautiful bride I ever seen and will ever see. I will miss you always and think about you as often as I did when you were here and maybe even more that you are gone. "Things work out", was your statement and in your memory I will believe that it will.
All my Love your little brother Michael

I'll never forget the GFD bus trips to Boston in which the banter and the fodder of those two best friends, Barb and Pat, was more entertaining than the city itself! Vic, I'm so sorry for your loss, may the many memories comfort you now and for years to come. Hugs- Sandy

Mrs S. I don't know where to begin , but let's just say you were more an aunt to me than anyone in this world. Right down to you showing me how to do the dishes (which I loved ) to teaching me how to make your Christmas fudge (which everyone loves) and who can forget you demanding I get a midnight blue dress for my senior prom (I did). But don't worry Kenzie checked to make sure I wouldn't end up like the little black number you had that she said "pstttt.. Mrs s don't bend over!" The hole in my mothers and family's heart without you is indescrible. I know Vic Tim Christopher and Brandon are all so lucky to have you as their shining star of a mother. You are already missed.

Love always
Brook
