Lowell Meyers Obituary

Oakdale - Lowell W. Meyers Jr., 56, passed away peacefully at his home on Saturday, July 29, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, after fighting relentlessly against cancer for his family.

He was born on March 13, 1961, in New London, to Georgia Gray Gore, and his late father, Lowell W. Meyers Sr.

Lowell married his best friend, Kathryn (Scott) Meyers, on June 4, 2004. She survives him.

Mr. Meyers had worked for The Day newspaper in New London for many years.

Lowell had a love for fishing and live music, but what he cherished most was playing outside with his grandchildren.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his mother, Georgia Gray Gore; step-children, Nathan Scott (Callie), Woodrow Scott (Susan Renshaw), and Katie Scott (Shawn Girard); sisters, Cynthia (Clifford) Erikson, Clara (Wilson) Scott, and Laurie (Louis) Stevens; grandchildren, Kaelynn and Andrew LaVigne, Sophia, Everett, and Blake Scott; niece, Amy Diaz (Manuel); nephews, Wilson Scott (Kimberly) and Ryan Firth; "his brother from another mother," his cousin Jerry; and his best friend, John Sparmer.

A memorial service will be held at 12 p.m. on Thursday, August 3, 2017, at Byles Memorial Home, 99 Huntington St., New London. A calling hour will be held from 11 a.m. until the start of the service. Burial was private.
