My deceased husband, Dick North, thought Ma Bean was not only one of the best bus drivers, but also was, in her own way, an extension of the East Lyme sports program. I recall a story that Dick told me. One of the ELHS football teams had lost an away game. Ma Bean, the driver that day, figured the team was too rowdy, considering that loss. On the way back to the high school, she pulled the bus over until the team was quiet, so they could think about things. Then she started the now "quiet" journey homeward. I wonder if Ma Bean is driving a "Magic School Bus" on her final journey homeward. My regards to her family.

To the "Little Beans",
Although I haven't been to Old Lyme in many, many years, I will always remember when your Mom came over to our house and my Grandma loved visiting with her! The greatest thing about your Mom was her immense smile, and her winsome laugh... she'll ALWAYS be in my memory. May God bless you and give you the strength to get through this.
With fond rememberences,

To the family
I worked with "Ma" at the time she lost both her son and husband, her family was first and foremost in her life, only her faith gave her the strength to carry on. She was known for her loyalty, love and laughter. What a generous public servant and great woman.

Cindy,
I am truely sorry for your loss and I admire your courage at her bed side. I remember at your dad's service she gave me a hug and said "it's like losing an uncle" and now it is like losing an aunt. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

To the family of Roberta Bean,
I am sorry for your loss my prayers with you. I remember how caring she was for the kids on her bus. The last day of school before I graduated high school she handed me a card for graduation with a 1976 half dollar taped inside. To this day I still have the card and the half dollar every now and then I will pull it out of the box that I have it and remember I was so touched by her kindness.

"Bob, Cynthia and Family, Even though we have never met I would like to offer my condolences on the passing of your Mom. She baby sat for my son when he was 2 years old. She was the best. He would be so happy going to "Ma Bean's" house. I have since moved from CT and haven't seen your Mom in years. She truly was a special lady. My
thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. Emilie (Fazzino) Krogrud, (Palm Bay, Fl)
