Fernande Fortin Obituary
She was born Sept. 12, 1938, in St. Honore', Quebec, the daughter of the late Pierre and Josephine (Vaillancourt) Morin. She married Andre Fortin June 2, 1962 at St. Honore' Church in Quebec. He survives her.
She was a long time Guild member of Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Gales Ferry and she loved to read and garden.
In addition to her loving husband, Andre; she is survived by her sons, Pierre Fortin, Tom Fortin and wife, Raschida; sister, Louisette Fortin and husband, Albert; three brothers and three sisters in Canada; and step-granddaughter, Jessica Franklin and husband, Rhodni; and four step-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Lucien.
Calling hours will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. Monday, July 8, 2013, at the Church and Allen Funeral Home, 136 Sachem St., Norwich. A Mass of Christian Burial and reception will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday, at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, 1650 Rte 12, Gales Ferry, where donations to the Guild may be made. Burial will follow in Avery Stoddard Cemetery.

To the Fortin family, I have done Fern's hair for about a year and a half now. I always looked forward to seeing her beautiful smiling face. I was shocked and saddened to see she passed. I can still here her sweet voice and laugh and see the sparkle in her eyes. She was beautiful inside and out, and although I only knew her for a short time, I will never forget her. My deepest sympathies go out to you all. I hope the happy memories will comfort you during this difficult time. I know she loved her family so much and her cat too. She always talked about you all.

My heart is very sad, you and Fernande brought such sunshine to me when ever I sat and talked to the both of you. Her laughter and smile lit up my whole world. God blessed you both with each other. I truely beleive when they saw everyone has a soul mate in life, they were talking about you two, a love you dont find anymore. I will miss her more than words could ever express. Cher Famille Fortin,. I'm Colette Grondin Breton. A one-time neighbor from Putnam St, Hartford . Both Fernande & Andre have always been so kind to my family. Even taking time to come to my dad's (Germain Grondin) funeral in Canada 2 yrs. ago. Please know that you are in our prayers.

Andre, Pierre, Thom and Raschida. Fern was an incredibly nuturing and gentle woman. Nothing new to you I am sure.
It's been so many years since I last saw her, but please know she was a positive female role model to me during my awkward teenage years. She was like the mom I never had.
Her faith in God and love for her family was unwavering. I am a better mother today because of her. Be at peace that she touched many lives during her lifetime.
