Groton - Edward "Eddie" C. Evans was taken from all of those who cherished him on Sept. 13, 2012. "May he always be an angel on our shoulders."
He graduated Fitch High School in Groton in 1973, and was employed by Pfizer, Thames Valley Steel, Olympic Sporting Goods, Groton Recreation, and Sound Community Services.
Eddie was an avid Red Sox and Giants fan and was always talking politics. He loved to play soccer, as well as coaching in the Groton Recreation Youth League for many years. He was a member of the Poquonnock Bridge Baptist Church and choir. He especially enjoyed spending time with his family and going on long walks with his canine friends. His humbleness and kindness enabled him to know a diversity of people. He was a great son, brother, uncle, and friend to all of those he touched in his life.
Eddie was predeceased by his father, William C. Evans Jr.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Evans of Groton; two daughters, Heather Jean and Dawn Marie; three sisters, Patricia Schuyler and her husband, James, of Groton, Susan Roberts of Groton, and Rose Carvalho and her husband, Tony, of Ledyard; three brothers, Robert Evans and his wife, Diana, of Ledyard, Richard Evans of North Stonington, and William Evans of Groton. He adored his 43 nieces and nephews. He will be forever missed by family and friends.
A memorial service will be conducted at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28, at Dinoto Funeral Home, 17 Pearl St., historic downtown Mystic.
