Oh my Lord, I am so sorry. I didn't know. To Aretha, Kea, Richard & Lil Roy, my heart goes out to you all. I just found out. I'm so sorry. Ms.Vernetta will surely be missed. She holds a very special place in my heart. I met Vernetta as a teenager & she impacted my life in a huge way. I will never forget her! One of the nicest, sweetest people one could ever meet. She always had a beautiful smile on her face. I still have not found a chilimac close to hers (smile). I just wanted the family to know that you all are in my prayers & an angel has left this earth. My deepest sympathy & condolences.

A wonman that never let the smile leave her face when she saw anyone she knew. I met Vernetta when she was married to Roy . I told her that she was like Erica Cane on all my children she laughed so hard we could laugh and talk for a while. Without looking at the picture i can see those cheeks perk up and her asking how you doin and the family. She always had a load of kids with her most of the time she really loved kids and grafted mine in as family My Heart Goes out to the entire family and all who filled the church. She was truly loved and will not be forgotten.

I met Vernetta in the 6th grade. I was changing into my gym uniform in the girls locker room. Vernetta walked up started folding my clothes saying, "Come let's go." I look up to see this black girl. You know there was only a hand full of us in the whole school. So that was nice. We walked out of the locker room together and she then said to me, "My name is Vernetta." I told her my name and we were friends from that moment forward. We had such good times together. Such a wonderful time during high school. Remember house parties. We were in the Church choir for awhile too. We called each other for time out and went away for the weekend. She was a very caring and giving person. Vernetta was my best friend. I was so in denial of her illness. I just kept expecting her to get better. I still can't believe this. My best friend is gone. My best friend is gone. It does not seem real. To the family I grew up with, to the children I watched grow up. I too feel the pain of not being able to see, hear or speak to her when you want to or need to. Hold on family. You still have each other. Know you are loved. May God bless and keep you. You are in my thoughts and prayers. Vernetta, until we meet again. Matthew 11:28, Isaiah 46:4

God saw you were getting tired and a cure was not to be, so he put his arms around Vernetta and whispered "Come with Me" with tearful eyes we watched you and saw you fade away. Although we loved you dearly, we could not make you stay. A golden heart stopped beating, hard-working hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best.
