Gloria Alcorn Obituary

Gloria Alcorn, of Palm Springs, California died on November 28, 2010 at Eisenhower Hospital. The cause of death was undetected cancer. She was born at home on the family farm in rural Bricelyn, Minnesota on March 3, 1934 to Peter and Mayme (Oswald) Alne. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Kermit, Nordean and Roger Alne, sister Phyllis Nordaas, stepson Dale Alcorn Jr., daughter-in-law Terry Frerichs and many brothers and sisters in-law. Gloria is survived by her husband of 41 years, Dale; her sons Lyle (Lori), Lance (Kathy) and Lon Frerichs, her daughters Lana (Tracy) Hanna and Lisa (Ray) Schardijn; stepdaughter Connie (Zane) Morris; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and a great great grandchild. She was a very good singer; she loved her crafts; and was quick to make friends. Gloria had a distinctive laugh but if you couldn't hear her you could easily pick her out in a crowd - she loved wearing bright clothes and big jewelry. There will be a Celebration of Life service on December 12, at 2 PM, in the Safari Park Community Center, 2601 S Cherokee Way, Palm Springs. In the spring of 2011 there will be a celebration service for Gloria in northern Iowa (date and location pending.) To view and sign this guestbook, please visit: mydesert.com/obituaries.
