Margaret Garkie Obituary

Margaret W. Garkie ("Marcy"), 92, formerly of Palm Desert, Calif., died October 30, 2010, in Huntington Beach, Calif. Born Margaret Alice Walter on September 7, 1918, Marcy was the beloved wife of James B. Garkie and the cherished matriarch of a family blessed by her joy, smiles, and spirit. She is survived by daughters, Susan Spies and Marion Garkie; grandchildren, Kelsey Spies Evans and Brad Spies; and great-grandchildren, August and Avery Evans. Having showed so truly what real love and friendship is all about; Marcy's final resting place will be forever in our hearts. The family will hold a private memorial. In lieu of flowers, a contribution may be made in her memory to the John Tracy Clinic, 806 W. Adams Blvd., Los Angeles 90007.

Susan and Marion I was very saddened to see your mom had passed away. When we moved to Calif in 1953 you were the first friends I met. Living down the street from Marcie in Palm Desert she was always keeping an eye on me and making sure things were ok. Kris and I moved here to Albuquerque in 2004. She kept telling me life was all about attitude and she had the wisdom. May God bless during these times.
