Patricia Tourigney Obituary

Patricia Ann Tourigney, 68, nine year resident of Sun City Palm Desert, Calif. passed away at Eisenhower Medical Center on Tuesday, November 30, 2010, following an eight month battle with complications following an April surgery. Pat was a beloved wife, daughter, sister, and friend. She was born on May 28, 1942 in Everett, Mass. to Harry J. Rocco (deceased) and Eva (Melone) Rocco. Pat was a graduate of Everett High School, and worked for Kraft Foods for 30 years. Pat married Donald R. Tourigney in 1992. They moved to Palm Desert in 2001, fully engaged in life as retirees. Pat was known for her beautiful smile, her statuesque grace, and her love of adventure. She was game for any new experience or fun event; if Italian food was included, all the better. Pat knew how to organize anything, and had a knack for making order out of chaos. Pat has been a member of the Performing Arts Club, Boomers & Friends, Lady Putters, Lady Nine Holers, and Bunco Babes. Pat is survived by her husband, Donald R. Tourigney, Palm Desert; mother, Eva Rocco, Burbank, Calif.; sister, Virginia L. Durkin (James Mentel), South Pasadena, Calif.; brothers, Harry J. Rocco, Las Vegas, Nev.; and Joseph Rocco (Diane), Rehoboth, Mass. Pat will be greatly missed by all who loved her, and admired for her bravery and determination to regain her life. Internment services next week will be private. A Celebration of Life will be held after the holidays, date and time to be determined. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations be made to Sacred Heart Church, 43-775 Deep Canyon Road, Palm Desert, CA 92260.

Patti and I grew up on Harding Ave. in Everett. We graduated High School together in 1959 and remained friends all these years.I always felt that her picture should be in the dictionary next to the words glamorous, classy, adventuresome,smart and kind. She could make anyone feel important and that one could be or do anything they wanted. She knew how to bring out the best in people. I will miss her for a long,long time. Thank goodness that warm memories last forever.

Dear Don, family and friends of Pat:

My heartfelt sympathy to all of you. I knew Pat way back at the Parlin Jr. High School here in Everett. As the years after graduatio went by, I lost contact with her. However, I did get reacquainted with her in September 2009 when she and her husband attended our 50th high school reunion. Pat looked radiant and was so happy with her retirement in California and enjoying life with her husband. It was a shock to read of her untimely passing.

My thoughts and prayers are with all who are missing her. God bless you all.

Don,

My recollection of Pat was when we were in the first musical play when we moved here approximately eight years ago. We were all new residents and involved in the play "Happiness Is". Through the years we have bumped into each other but never socialized on a regular basis. I will always remember her warmth and humor and also what a beautiful couple you were.

We are so sorry for your loss, but know that she will never leave you in your heart!

To Don and Eva and all of Pats Family;

Dean and I are heartbroken for all of you, she will be dearly missed. Whenever at an event we would hear the laughter and find her surrounded by friends. Pat had such a style and grace about her combined with an incredible infectious smile. Who didn't love being close to her. Pat was a rare person that you could never replace. We think one of the best ways to honor Pat and keep her in our hearts is to carry on Pats spirit of love and life, all with a smile and a lot of laughter.

Our Deepest Sympathy
