Sidney D. Prince

Sidney D. Prince, PhD, died in Palm Springs, Calif. on October 9, 2010 at age 91. He is survived by his wife, Lucille Forestal; his children, Daniel, Anthony and Irene; three grandchildren; and one great grandchild. Sidney served in the U.S. Army during WWII, training with the 10th Mountain Division; then moving to Patton's Desert Training Center east of Indio. Sidney received his PhD at USC, and for many years had a private practice in Beverly Hills. He was a founding member of LA Society of Clinical Psychologists, which led to the licensing of clinical psychologists in California. He was active in progressive social and health care causes, including the LA Free Clinic and LA Psychiatric Services; and was an associate professor of psychology at Cal State L A. He participated in early pioneering research on the uses of LSD under the direction of Dr. Oscar Janiger. Sidney was a member of SAG and had small roles in the cult classic "The Blob", and the 1967 comedy "The President's Analyst" as well. An avid walker, Sidney could often be found taking long strolls (he knew the shady routes) in Palm Springs' Movie Colony. He will be missed by many for his droll sense of humor, his wisdom and his irresistible smile. No public service is planned.
