I had the rare pleasure of meeting Mr. Pevney several times when I used to regularly visit Palm Desert. I met him through another Old Hollywood person. He took one look at me and proclaimed, "great face". It always made me wonder if I should have pursued a different career. It just goes to show you how one person can leave a lasting memory. He was a nice man and as I later found out, a great director of some of the best TV shows. Rest In Peace, Joe.

My condolences to the Pevney family and their loss of a wonderful man and great talent. I never knew Mr. Pevney personally but his television work was a huge influence on my life while growing up. I still hold certain ideals high that I encountered through those television episodes.

Jan and Jay - I'm saddened to learn of your father's passing. I worked with him on a Startrek episode - and at the time did not know he was your father. I remember how nice he was to everyone on the set and made me feel very special - it was my first day.

Mr. Pevney helmed what I would call the best of the medium. That being TV and the Movies of his era.Today's Pablum is a pale shadow of what he produced.Well done Sir.You have earned your rest.

Mr. Pevney was one of those people invisible to the public who infused quality enjoyment into countless hours for so many people. If the industry ever erects a director's hall of distinctive accomplishments, his have already won a prominent place there.

I have been a huge STAR TREK fan for nearly forty years, but my heart belongs to the original series most of all, and Joseph Pevney's directorial work on the series was some of the best I've ever seen. For all your contributions to that series, and many others, thank you. You will be greatly missed.

Joe Pevney provided tremendous assistance on my book about the actor Charles McGraw, film noir and Old Hollywood. He was a truly talented film director who made some terrifically entertaining features as well as a plethora of television episodes. After several phone conversations, I visited Joe and Margo last year in Palm Desert and it was a wonderful day of reminisences and stories. Joe had a joyful, feisty presence that belied his years: I will miss him. My condolences to Margo and his entire family.

My hearts go out to each of you. Joe was something special. I will always remember him as my first real challenge in real estate. His orders were to bring him all the real estate magazines outside my office and find him a home where he could set up his ham radio towers. We did it. Found the home, good tenants for the Texas house and then later resold the house when they moved back to the Texas property. He was always a joy and always the "director". He will be missed.
