William Ralph Mitchell, age 59, passed away on Tuesday, January 14, 2014 at his home in La Quinta, California. Bill was born May 26, 1954 in Van Nuys, Calif. to parents William Andrew and Barbara Mitchell. He graduated from the California College of Mortuary Science with an Associate Degree in 1974 and has been in the Funeral industry for the past 42 years. He had lived in La Quinta for the past 13 years and Palm Desert for eleven years prior to that. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William Andrew and Barbara Mitchell. He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Pamela Mitchell; daughter and son-in-law, Julie & Jason Ewals of Indio, Calif.; son and daughter-in-law, Scott & Kati Mitchell of Fullerton, Calif.; brothers, Howard (wife Charlotte) Mitchell of Atlanta, Ga. and David (wife Linda) Mitchell of Agoura, Calif.; sister-in-law, Patricia Douglas of Palmdale, Calif.; Grandson, Chase Mitchell; two nieces and three nephews; two grandnieces and two grandnephews. A special thank you to Dr. Luke Dreisbach and his entire staff for the love and support they provided. Visitation is scheduled for Sunday, January 19, 2014 from 5:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Montecito Memorial Park & Mortuary, 3520 E. Washington Street, Colton, CA. 92324. A second visitation is scheduled for Monday, January 20, 2014 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn Memorial Park & Mortuary, 69855 E. Ramon Road, Cathedral City, CA. 92234. Funeral service is scheduled for Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at 11:00 a.m. at Our Savior's Church, 1020 E. Ramon Road, Palm Springs, CA 92262. Pam,
I was very distressed when we spoke today and learned of Bill's death. I guess my annual calls of keeping in touch was not enough. I so admired Bill for his love of you, the kids, his Mom and his career. We had many fun times together during our road trips. You and the kids are in my prayers and I will always remember how you and Bill played a part in my life. What a great guy you married.

I had the great privilege of working at SCI with Bill...his market was my "Adopt-a-Market". He was a great mentor, consummate professional and cared deeply for those on his team. Please know that he was a man of honor who served many families with great compassion.
