Elizabeth Johnson Obituary

March 20, 1950 - March 5, 2011

Elizabeth "Betty" Johnson went to sleep March 5, 2011 and woke in Jesus arms.

Funeral services are set for 1 p.m. Thursday, March 10, in Brenham Memorial Chapel. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 12, in Roselawn Cemetery, Baton Rouge, La.

Liz was born in New Orleans on March 20, 1950. When 18 months old, she was adopted by parents Virginia and James Johnson and moved to Baton Rouge. Liz and her mother moved to Texas after she started school to take advantage of the Special Education offered in Texas that they did not have in Louisiana.

She was very close to her mother who raised her as a single parent, until her passing in August 2007. Her cousins Carolyn and Hank Williams became her new guardians and mom and dad at the request of her mother. Liz entered Brenham State School as a teenager where she lived until moving into a group home in 1995 operated by D & S Residential Services. In March of 2010, she moved into a group home operated by Brenham Outreach Advisory Council.

Liz had many hospital stays during the last two years with three major surgeries last year. Her family would like to thank the many people who worked with Liz and who took care of her during her lifetime.

Liz was a sweet and loving person who made friends with everyone she met. She never went anyplace in Brenham that she did not see someone she knew and gave them a big hug. Her church membership was with A & M Methodist Church in College Station.

Jesus was her Savior and Liz knew she would see her mother in heaven.

She is survived by many cousins and friends.

Liz was fortunate to be adopted twice in her life, instead of flowers please make donation in her memory to www.buckner.org or 214-758-8050. Buckner is a ministry to orphans and vulnerable children.
