Mr. Clinch was born April 10, 1931, in Greeley to Joseph Francis and Margaret Rita Mahoney Clinch.

Survivors of the immediate family include three sons and a daughter-in-law, Jerry and Amber Clinch and William Clinch, all of Grand Island, Thomas Clinch and Samantha Osenbaugh of Colorado Springs, Colo.; a sister and brother-in-law, Helen and Ernie Martinez of Omaha; a brother and sister-in-law, Jerome and Dorothy Hehner of Gibbon.

Additional survivors include two grandchildren, Makenna and Mikyla; his first wife, Ella Husmann Clinch and their three daughters, Phillis Dewey of Commerce City, Darlene Rosswick of Florida and Lois Beckman of North Platte; his second wife, Dodi Mudloff Clinch; numerous nieces and nephews.

Bill grew up in Greeley, moving with his family to Grand Island in 1943. He spent a few years working on a ranch in the Halsey area, until he joined the United States Army at the age of 17. He was an officer for the Humane Society in Hall County, but devoted the majority of his adult life to the field of alcoholism counseling. He worked at the Hastings Regional Center, and was a probation officer for the state of Nebraska until 1980. He worked for a short while at Valley Hope and the Friendship House, then moved to Omaha and worked at St. Gabes from 1981 to 1983. In 1984, he moved to Kearney and served as a counselor at Marriage and Family Counseling Center. He continued his career in the field of alcoholism, working for Holy Family Hospital in Estherville, Iowa, Northwest Nebraska Community Alcoholism Council in Alliance and Eppley Treatment Center Resources in Omaha. He later worked as security at St. Francis Medical Center in Grand Island, but also continued counseling with programs for the Hall County and Platte County Ag Associations during racing season.

He married Ella Kruse Husmann on Dec. 4, 1964. He married Dodi Mudloff on May 12, 1983.

Bill was an avid collector of whatever suited his fancy at any given time, ranging from bottles to deer antlers, antiques to knives and guns. He enjoyed fishing, playing poker, rock hunting and metal detecting. He was a member of Alcoholics Anonymous for the past 43 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Jerry and Tom, and one sister, Darlene Wallace.

I was saddened to hear of Bill's passing. He was a good man. Bill was my dad's sponsor in 1971. I will miss him terribly.

So sorry for your loss! Bill was very special to a lot of people & touched the lives of too many to count! He was very instrumental in my early recovery as well as my Dad's recovery. My Dad passed away 4 years ago with over 32 years of continuous sobriety & I just recently celebrated 25 years sober and Bill was a person who you would never forget after you had met him. Just remember that he has moved on to "The Big Meeting in the Sky" and will continue to carry the message of recovery for years to come!

When I opened the paper to Bill Clinch's obituary I was saddened and felt compelled to write... His face was the first I saw when attending MY first AA meeting- I was scared, helpless & hopeless...When Bill said " Hey kid- how ya doin?" with that grin of his- I immediately felt at ease..and sat down beside him. 14 years ago!! When I saw him at a meeting 6 months ago- his was the last face I saw.. still smiling and living his life to the best of his ability. Wow... He was such an admirable person and listening to him speak always gave me hope, insight, wisdom and a few good laughs....Regretably- I didnt get to kno him one on one thru-out the years. He never knew it- but he made an impact on my life and for that I am grateful...

Heaven is a better place with Bill Clinch in it. We just saw Bill at Tiffany and we talked to him about his "Billyism's". He always had a slogan for everything. God Bless his children and grandchildren. They are all in our thoughts and prayers! When I was in treatment Bill woke me up in the morning and I will be forever grateful for all that he did for me.

Bill was a genuine "Good Ol Boy", I loved talking with him, he had a lot of wisdom in him and sometimes he could be full of crap, mostly good stuff tho. Last time I saw him, we were working hard on a trade, my buffalo skull for his great big geode. As I recall, Doty was trying to work on her tan and was none to happy that she found herself in the middle of a hi level trade.
Bill helped a lot of people and I'm glad that I had the opportunity to know him.

I met Bill in 1976 when I was an angry 14-year-old. He made me pay the price for my actions - something I'll always be grateful for. He helped me many times over the years and I'll always remember his wisdom. My thoughts are with his six children, his grandchildren and all who loved him.
