Samuel Capogrossi Obituary
Samuel B. Capogrossi, age 90, of McLean, VA formerly of Freeville, NY passed away Monday, September 2, 2013 in Virginia. Born July 7, 1923 in Ithaca, NY he was the son of the late Joseph and Ercilia Polamari Capogrossi and husband of the late Margaret Scavona Capogrossi who died in 1986. Sam was a US Army veteran serving during WW II. He was a Union Laborer working for various contractors prior to his retirement. Sam is survived by his children, Susan Weis of Vienna, VA, Katherine Messenger of Fairfax, VA, Jeffery (Candace) Capogrossi of Columbia, SC and Samuel B. Capogrossi, Jr. of Rutland, VT; grandchildren, Christopher Weis of Vienna, VA, Nicole Becker of Silver Spring, MD, Kristen Capogrossi of Madison, WI, Samuel Capogrossi III of Rutland, VT, Kathryn Capogrossi of Atlanta, GA and Ben Capogrossi of Rutland, VT; great granddaughter, Caitlyn Becker of Silver Spring, MD; brother, Albert Capogrossi of Ithaca, NY and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am, Friday, (today) September 6, 2013 at Holy Cross Church, 375 George Rd., Freeville, NY with Rev. Malachy Eloo Nwosu officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Willow Glen Cemetery, Dryden. Friends called from 5-7 pm Thursday at Perkins Funeral Home, 55 West Main St., Dryden, NY.
