James Kidney Obituary
Ithaca: James Edward Kidney, 89, of Sheraton Drive, passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2011 at the Cayuga Medical Center. He was born in Wilkes Barre, PA, son of the late Samuel and Anna (Harrison) Kidney and was the widower of Margaret LaLonde Kidney who died on January 4, 2006. Jim retired as the Director of Buildings and Properties at Cornell University in 1986 after 42 years of service. He was a former member of the Masonic Lodge. Jim is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Terry and Cyndi Utter; his grandchildren, Lynn Houghtling, Dawn Brittingham and Terry Utter, Jr.; his sisters-in-law, Yolanda Kidney, Ada Carnell and Mary (Steve) Slaght and several nieces and nephews, including his special niece, Claire McDonald. In addition to his parents and wife, Jim was also predeceased by his brothers, John, Frank, Edward, Charles and Thomas Kidney. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 16th at 3:30 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. Friends may call prior to the service beginning at 2:30 p.m. Burial in East Lawn Cemetery will be delayed. In lieu of flowers, donations in Jim's memory may be made to Foodnet Meals on Wheels, 2422 N. Triphammer Rd., Ithaca, NY 14850 or to the Salvation Army, 150 N. Albany St., Ithaca, NY 14850.

Jim was the manager and coach of our Kiwanis Trojan baseball team in the 1940's. He was helpful, with a warm personality, and always had a big smile. My condolences to his family.

I am the Step-daughter of Edward Kidney, My Uncle Jim's Brother. I always will remember seeing Uncle Jim and Aunt Margie when we Lived In Ithaca. I remember Terry when he entered their lives and how much they loved him. I want to send my condolences to Uncle Jim's family and his many friends.
