A brilliant man who was a national treasure was lost on 2/18/2013. He was the true definition of a PROFESSOR known by countless students, scholars and educators.
Rest in eternal peace, Professor.

He was one of the best teachers I had in my life. I was very proud by having him as one of my co-advisors during my PhD program at Cornell. That gave me opportunity to be with him in different occasions. Good people, good times, good memories...

Thanks to Susan, I was lucky enough to meet Shayle on a couple of occassions. Even in our short time together he was an inspiration. Filled with life and wit. He will be missed.

Mr. Shayle Searle will be remembered fondly by those who knew him. He had such a brilliant mind. He enjoyed conversation with depth almost as much as he loved his scotch! We had many spirited card games and lovely dinners gathered together with the family. Rest in peace dear friend. I'll hope to see you on the other side!
