Clarence Franklin Obituary

Clarence DeWitt Franklin, age 79, of Danby, died Saturday afternoon at his residence. He is the son of the late Harreal W. and Reatha Franklin. Clarence enjoyed reading detective stories and science fiction. A graduate from Fredrick Douglas High School in Sherman, Texas, he went to work in the Pontiac Foundry in Detroit, Michigan before enlisting in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After the war, he received a teaching degree from Friends University and later taught in Wichita, Kansas. Afterwards, he joined the Teacher Corps at Buffalo State College that taught teachers how to teach students in inner city schools. Upon completion of this program, he taught remedial Math in the Buffalo Public Schools before retirement. Survivors include his wife, Susan Franklin; two daughters, Deborah Ghee and Martha Franklin; eight sons, Clarence Franklin Jr., Jerry (Carol), Michael (Emma), Philip (Felina), James, Andrew (Stacey), Thomas (Lynn), and Matthew Franklin; a sister-in-law, Crissy Franklin; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his sister, Consuelo Parker; two brothers, Joseph and Harry Franklin Jr. A Memorial Service will be on Wednesday, November 3, 2010, at 7:00 p.m. at the Herson Funeral Home, Ithaca. Burial will be on Saturday in West Hill Cemetery in Sherman, Texas. If desired, memorials may be made in Clarence's name to a charity of the donor's choice.

Dear Phillip and your family my deepest sorrow for your loss.
After reading your father obituary I see you were all blessed to have such a large family. Knowing that I believe your father felt the same. His life was very fruitful and leaves behind a tremous legacy. May God bless you and give you his grace to carry on in your time of sorrow. Philip and family, Here is a hug from me… I may not have know your father but I do know about a fathers’ love and remember to keep that close to your hearts.
