Joshua Endo Obituary
Joshua (Josh) Endo, beloved son of Caron Bove and Lawrence (Larry) Endo, died on Sunday, January 20, 2013, in Ithaca, NY at 20 years of age. Josh was born on November 11, 1992 in Ithaca, NY. He was educated in the Ithaca City School District and graduated in 2010 from Ithaca High School. Josh attended Oberlin College, where he was awarded a John Fredrick Oberlin Scholarship. Josh was a gifted musician, playing the French horn in the Ithaca High School Orchestra, Band, and Woodwind Quintet. He sang in the Young Men's Chorus of Ithaca and enjoyed playing the guitar and piano. Josh also participated in Rock the Arts and Habitat for Humanity projects. In addition to his parents, Josh is survived by his sister, Sasha and her partner, Caroline Rober; his Maddie and the whole Halpert family; his grandmother, Anne Bove; and the extended Bove and Endo families including aunts, uncles, and cousins. Josh was insightful and funny, but he will be most remembered for his kindness, gentleness, and unforgettable smile. He forged deep friendships with Michael Guidi, Dan Snedeker, Justin Burton, and Ethan Getz, with whom he enjoyed many camping adventures. He was also a loyal friend to Alex Lopinto, Kailey Eldridge, Kalila Booker-Cassano, Lara Bertoia, and Elias Spector-Zabusky. Friends may call on Saturday, January 26, 2013, from 2-4 p.m. at the Bangs Funeral Home. A memorial celebration of Josh's life will be announced at a later date. The family would like to thank the Ithaca Police Department for their respectful and dedicated work in difficult circumstances. The community in Ithaca and beyond has been unparalleled in its outpouring of support, which has given much-needed solace. To honor Josh's memory, contributions may be made to The Josh Endo Memorial for the Continuing Support of Music Education, through the Fine Arts Booster Group, online at www.ipei.org or by check. My son Jack Gallagher sang with Josh in the Young Men's chorus. I am so, so sorry. Our family went through this same kind of tragedy a year ago when Jack died and I took some small comfort in the outpouring of love from the community.
