Earl McFall Obituary

McFall, Earl "Bud" F.

Earl "Bud" F. McFall, 86, West Groton Road, Groton died December 31, 2015 at Northwood Rehabilitation & Nursing Center after an extended illness. Born January 9, 1929 in Danby, NY, he was a son of the late Earl and Anna Steele McFall. Bud served his country in 1953 with the U.S. Marines and later was employed with the Groton Village DPW, retiring after 41 years of service in 1992. He was a retired member of the Groton Fire Dept. Pioneer Hose Company #1 and enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping and in his later years selling his crafts at various craft shows. He loved to putter around the homestead and tinker on projects to keep busy in his later years. He is survived by his loving wife, Janice Bell McFall at home; his children, Bonnie (Wayne) Letich of Genoa, Nadine (Tim) Vandewalker of Cicero, and Michael (Carol) Zhe of Groton; as well as six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; sisters, Luella Reed, Ethel Reed and Almina Reed; as well as several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his siblings, George Reed, Williams Reed, Hamilton Reed, Ruth Bossard and Daisy Younge. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 13, 2016, 4:00 p.m. at the Zirbel Funeral Home, 115 Williams St., Groton, with Pastor Cliff Ostrander officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in the Groton Rural Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday evening from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to the Groton Fire Dep. Ambulance Fund, P.O. Box 96 or to the Groton Carrington Fuller Post American Legion, 307 Main St., Groton, NY 13073 or to a local SPCA. Bud lived with my family when he was a young man. Actually he was "family". My parents, Roy and Irene Bean have both passed but he will always be remembered by myself and my siblings. A wonderful person who will be missed.
