HORSEMAN, 68
HAINES CITY - Carolyn E. Horseman, 68, passed away on July 12, 2015, after battling cancer for over a year. She was born in Charlotte, North Carolina on August 20, 1946. Her mother was Frances F. Eppley and father was Gordon T. Cougle.
Professionally, Carolyn taught high school, college mathematics, and computer science. She also worked as a computer programmer at Sali-sbury University. Carolyn married Thomas Horseman on August 26, 1977. In 1979, they moved to Salisbury, Maryland wh-ere they raised their two daughters. In 2003, Carolyn and her husband moved to central Florida. Up until weeks before her death she continued to teach mathematics at Polk State College. She had a beautiful mezzo-soprano voice and loved singing in choirs. She also enjoyed golfing, bird watching, and watching baseball.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Horseman; two daughters, Maggi Horseman and Katie Horseman; her sister, Charlene Sellers; and her brother, Russ Eppley.
The family will receive friends on Saturday, July 18, 2015, at 4pm at the Oak Ridge Funeral Care, 2425 W. Havendale Blvd., Winter Haven, Florida 33881, (863) 967-5090, for a celebratory memorial service of her life at 5pm. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to the Good Shepard Hospice, 105 Arneson Ave, Auburndale, Florida 33823, (863) 297-1880.

I went to Salisbury State College to wrestle. After 24 N's and 1 D my first year I ended up in Finite Math with this really attractive Mrs Horseman. The rest became Mathematics, Computer Science, and Aerospace Engineering degree programs Im sure she would be proud. Later in Math Dept social she swore I was cheating because noone ever not missed a single point in any of her classes. No, not cheating, trusting her methods and applying them. Now I have three young proteges carrying her and all of Salisbury's great teachers legacies. They respect teachers and form their own opnions of classes and teachers. My rules. No hearsay. Being a 14 year cancer survivor with many physical difficulties resulting, I am saddened of the news for Tom and their children and loved ones. Cancer is cruel; I do not understand God's Will in it. I hope most for Tom to find not a replacement but at least something to make life bareable. We all deserve that. With great appreciation and love that Mrs Horseman, Carolyn Horseman touched me, my children, theirs, and theirs, ... Never to be forgotten here.

I was so saddened to read of Carolyn's passing. we sang together at Bethesda Church and she was my roommate when we took a singing tour to England. such a lovely classy lady! she will be missed.

Although I only met her once, I saw the light she shined through her beautiful, spiritual daughter. How she (Carolyn) believed that life wasn't just about surviving or even living.. combined with free will and love, we are capable of creating our lives. She told me that she saw at a very young age that her daughter had been gifted this truth within her and whomever she was to become, was all she ever wanted.

Tom and Carolyn were the first two people I met in Salisbury when I moved here over 30 years ago. They mentored me and guided me during a difficult time of my life. I worked with Carolyn not only as a colleague at the University but in musicals. I am deeply shocked and saddened by this news but I know that because of her strong faith she is with the Lord and as we stay true to Him, we will see her again.
