PORTAGE, MI. - Mr. Michael Lawrence Fields, age 43 a resident of Portage, Michigan passed away Friday, December 3, 2010 at his residence due to heart failure.
Mr. Fields was born August 10, 1967 in Lakeland, Florida to Lawrence T. and Dorothy L. (Pate) Fields. He was a resident of Portage since 2002 coming from Polk County. He was a supervisor of maintenance & building services for a construction/plumbing company. Michael loved his family and enjoyed fishing.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Marvin Curtis and Florene Fields; maternal grandfather J.C. Pate; sister Teresa L. Fields and son Joseph William "JJ" Freeman. Michael is survived by: wife of 15 years: Stephanie Miller-Fields of Portage, MI; 2 sons: John Miller Fields of Portage, MI, Michael Fields, Jr. of Portage. MI; 3 daughters: Ashley (Freddy) Poore of Plant City, FL, Vanessa (Joey) Pagan of Camp LeJune, N.C., Josie Fields of Lakeland, FL; father & stepmother: Lawrence "Butch" & Sherri Fields of Okeechobee, FL; mother & stepfather: Dorothy "Dotti" Crane & B.J. Marcus of Bartow, FL; maternal grandmother: Hazel Pate of Palatka, FL; 3 grandsons: Conner, Tyler & Aiden; Several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces & nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, December 10, 2010 at the Kersey Funeral Home with interment to follow at the Auburndale Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Thursday, December 9, 2010 from 6:00 till 8:00 PM at the funeral home.

I love and miss you soo very much!! It's not the same without you at all especially mom. We still needed you alot!! Joe and I was just talking about you telling us to put dry gas in our tank,silly I know! I know now that you pretty much knew it all because i'll find myself wanting to call to ask you a question and mom doesn't know certain things like you would lol.I'm still awake after Joe heads to work at 4am. Wish I could still call you just to talk or because I'm scared of the ghost I think I have in the apt. but I can't. I treasure those talks and moments. Aiden's getting soo big and crazy lol,you would have a ball!I promise even tho your not here anymore in person he will know his grandpa and exactly how much you loved him!! I love you and miss you always.. Nessa

We are going to miss Mike, he was a great man who loved, cared and would do anything for just about anyone. All of you are in our prayers as you mend thru this tragic loss of Mike. We are here for you any time of day or night. Wish we could be there with you in Florida to pay our respects and say goodbye...love you all.
